Title: Joystick Restrictor Plates
Post by: DemonBrew on January 31, 2005, 10:08:13 am
Anyone looking to sell Joystick Restrictor Plates? Does anyone have plans to DIY Restrictor Plates? My CP is going to be too small to build both 4-way and 8-way joysticks.

If you don't have the room for both 4-way and 8-way joys, I would go with a joystick you can change and not worry about restrictor plates.  It's going to be too much trouble to take it off or put it on when there are products made to do this easily.

Correct me if I am wrong - but the "switch" from 8 way to 4 way is at the electrical level, right? I could still physically move the joystick in all 8 directions. Example: I am going to play Pac-man, and I accidently slip into upper-left. Pac-man is stuck until I move the joystick up or left, correct?

Same thing with Q-Bert. If I move the joystick up or down, nothing happens. I want to make sure the joystick doesn't physically move in those directions. Thanks!

I think he was talking about the Prodigy sticks.

DemonBrew: See the OmniStick Prodigy at http://www.groovygamegear.com/page12.html and the T-Stick Plus at http://www.ultimarc.com/controls.html.  Both have physical switchable restrictors that can be switched from the top of the panel.

You can also look at the J-stick.  It comes with a restrictor you can turn from underneith the cp.

Well, now that's a different story.  ;) I read about the under-the-CP switch before. I didn't realize it could be done from above. This is my first cab, and will be for a non-geek user. I didn't want them to have to get under the CP or inside the cab if possible. Thanks everyone.
