Hello,
I'm thinking to built a mame cabinet from scratch.
But someone offers me a cheap cabinet for conversion.
IS this a good cabinet for conversion ?
Thanks in advance
Patrick

That looks like it'd make a good conversion candidate...
Just replace the Control Panel with your own custome one.
If it's JAMMA wired you can even put a PC in it easily. (J-PAC & ArcadeVGA)
Good luck!

OK, thanks
this cabinet cost 25 Euro, they do not know of the monitor is working.
Is it easy to replace this whit a pc monitor ?

Have you been looking at other member's projects in the "Project Announcements" forum?

What the heck is that, anyway? ???

As the guys said above, look at the "Project Announcements & HoF" thread & see what some other people are doing.
And... doing that is by far an easier way to get a MAME machine going... It's cheaper & less risky.
Buy the cab, do some homework, do some wiring & building & play!

OK. thanks
I think I buy this cabinet and start reading on other projects

Yeah, that's a great candidate.
You might have some trouble with the monitor sticking out the back, but you can modify the back board with a cut out, lots of games have those anyway.
You always have to be creative mounting monitors. You might have to build a shelf inside. I'd get that done before you do much else because you might put some holes in it. I bet you can even fit a 20" monitor in there.
It looks like you can just drill some more holes for buttons instead of building a new panel. But I don't think you can fit much of a trackball in there the way it's already set up. Maybe you can get a spinner.

If you like the looks of the cab then by all means it's a good candidate for a MAME conversion. You really can't go wrong for
