On ebay I see a lot of monitors for video poker machines for sell. Are these the same CGA type monitors used in arcade machines?
More to the point, can you hook one of these up to an Arcade VGA card and will it work with MAME?
I didn't find the answer to these questions in my search although I have found similar questions asked without a definitive answer, so any help is appreciated.

Most of the video poker monitors I have seen were conventional CGA standard resolution arcade monitors. There are some video pokers that used VGA monitors though. Ask the ebay seller for a make & model number of the monitor in question.

Ken:
The monitor in question is a Goldstar AGT 19" model number: A48QAD220X-08
Is this monitor any good and would it work in a cocktail cab?

That's the maker of the picture tube not the monitor. That doesn't tell me a thing. Can the poster provide a picture of the monitor circuit boards? Or make a link to the auction with pictures?
Video poker monitors are generally open frame commercial grade. In general the poker game manufacturers like to stick with major monitor manufacturers like Wells-Gardner, Kortek, Sharp Image, Ceronix, Kristel, Neotec, and Omnivision.

It's a Betson-Imperial (actually a Kortek) and it's a standard resolution (CGA). Great monitors.

Thanks. I'll go after it.
