Hi all. I have my artwork printed and ready to apply to my MAME cab. It needs to be applied vertically (as there is no room for it to be horizontal). What are the rules regarding this?
Should the lettering read from top to bottom, or bottom up? Or should one be top to bottom and the other bottom to top, so that it can be read from the front of the cab? I've found this image which seems to provide the answer:

I think this is how I want it, but want it to be right. Can I assume this is correct? Thoughts anyone?
Thanks
Tony

I don't know if there ARE rules.
If you want authenticity, then copy what Atari did. Look up "Road Runner" and "Road Blasters" on www.KLOV.com . You'll see each side.

Hmmm. If you look at the Roadblasters cab on Klov, you can see that the lettering "ATARI" goes from bottom to top on the right hand side. But the right hand side repro stuff I posted above goes from top to bottom.
I can't decide which looks best!
Any more thoughts anyone?

My own rule would be this: If you approach the machine, which way would you tilt your head to read words? Me, I'd naturally tilt it left, since I read left to right and it seems to make more sense to me to have it go from bottom to top.

bottom to top reads better for me...do it

Look at how the movie labels are on the sides of a DVD/VHS case and maybe use that as a model. Seems to me that people would be used to that.

OK - after much debate, I went with bottom up on both sides. If you're interested:

Wow.. nice candy cab. Seeing those almost makes me want to just by a couple of those for projects. Of course, I'm not sure I can afford those. Looks good though. ;D
