I just had the priviledge of throwing away one of my companies largest hardware projects. The development of this product cost over a $100 million dollars in overhead and years of engineering time. I heard some engineers wept when the project was scrapped.

$100,000,000...
There had to be some stuff that would make a great something in the home. Let us know what you build with it. ;)

What was it?
Networking equipment...core routers, etc. One big project that made it 99.999% of the through production and never made it out of beta. Not that it was bad, but a merger made the equipment obsolete.

ya it kills me when i see something like this , and I've seen it more than a few times at different places I've worked at , company scraps a project , then they toss out the eqpt. they bought , damn good stuff , stuff i would kill to get , but it ends up going to a certified "destroyer" that will insure that the equipment is properly disposed of ... *sigh* what a waste.
