Title: Visual Pinball - VPwrapper4 - MAMEwah Help!
Post by: surf on January 27, 2005, 05:45:27 pm
I'm using the latest versions of Visual Pinball, PinMAME, VPwrapper4 and MAMEwah...

The trouble I'm getting is that after loading a table, the PinMAME window dissapears.  I can alt-tab to set it back on top and it stays, but after exiting and re-loading, it's under the table again.  I have tried using the "mini front end" of the wrapper to config the tables, but it doesn't help. I've tried using the setting in PinMAME but there's really nothing of use there.

Looking for any help that anyone can offer...

Also, on a different emulator:

ZSNESW seems to be losing my controller config every time I launch it with MAMEwah.  Anyone else having this problem, or is there an extra command line that I am missing to load the config when starting ZSNESW?

Thanks again...

As far as ZSNES goes, even though it is visible it does not have focus hence the controls aren't actually being sent to ZSNES. Try messing with you showdosbox and alt_launch settings in your INI file. You can check out all my INI files on my downloads page at http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer

Enjoy,
John

I've used many of your ini files as a base line for mine... :)

I have mine set, as far as commands go, just the same as yours and zsnes is still not holding
the controler config!  I'll keep changing it and see if it helps...

Thanks...

Well, using [safelaunch] was the key, it works now!

I tried using your pinball wrapper but the splash screen won't go away.  I'm running everything in 800x600.  Do you have a secret for this one?  :)

Thanks,

How about any clues for getting the VPinMAME window to stay on top of the table?  One or two tables works fine, but for most I have to alt-tab to get it on top.  Doesn't play very nice with a cabinet!

I've been looking for a GOOD answer for a week now and haven't found a solution!

Thanks

My wrapper takes care of this problem, but keep in mind that you shouldn't be pressing keys, or clicking on the mouse while the table is launching.  Patience is the key.

Also any program that forces itself to be on top (like msnm or trillain), or any whacked out screen managment software (like 90% nvidias crappy software) will mess with the focus issue.

Also make sure you are using the proper version of pinmame as older versions require different code to bring the window to the front.

And on a final note, if you've never ran the table before somtimes the focus can be lost.  Just exit out of the table (after it's done initilazing) and re-launch and all is well.

This one is obvious, but make sure it's an actual pinmame table.  There are tables that don't use the dmd display you know.  ;)

I'm using the latest version of pinmame and vpinball.

I'm running the program in a cabinet, when the table starts, the DMD flashes for a millisecond then disappears behind the table, haven't touched a thing!  The funny thing is, I downloaded a table the other day, loaded it up the first time, the "do you own this rom" screen showed, your wrapper cleared it and the DMD was perfect!  I exited the table, reloaded it and ... guess what ... there is goes, back to under the table!

Is there anything else I should be looking for to cause this?

Thanks again...
