Correct me if I'm wrong (probably), but I think Elizabeth I deserves much more of the blame for the rape and pillaging of Ireland.

I thought that she ws the first monarch to actually decide Ireland needed to be conquered and commit the resources? I'm definitely not very informed when it comes to the Cromwell years. I really didn't get much of an Irish (or English) history education growing up in America.

You're in the minority by a considerable margin. All opinion polls here in Ireland say the contrary, the ordinary man in the street detests him and rightly so. The anti-american feeling here is a shame, his regaining the presidency didn't help.

An arrest warrant for war crimes was saught when he visited here last year but the courts wouldn't grant it. The visit was a joke, he was kept in his usual bubble with a wide cordon to keep away anti-war protesters, I think the visit lasted 8 hours or something. Besides, they could face up to their blood soaked heritage and offer reparations to the relatives of those who suffered and died to swell their fortune. Something that would hardly dent their wealth but show humanity they have a shread of decency. Junior doesn't have to worry about re-election next time so he could make this gesture without it affecting his political career (a term I use loosely)

Too much to ask I guess, after all he's amassing wealth by the suffering of others in the best family tradition. Grandaddy would be proud!

The apple from tree thing refers to the fact the bushes are still profiteering from war. It does not attempt to 'tie' junior with his grandads crimes.

If thats the best you can do I think I'll sit back from the edge of my seat before I get a cramp :)

OMG!!! I just realized that a couple people in my family tree of thousands were murderers and rapists.

I better go out and publicly apologize, and make arrangements for reparations to those that were effected by them. LOL

I don't care what his ancestors did, or how atrocious. I don't find GW at all like them, and I certainly don't link him to some legacy of evil.

That being said... I am done in here. I don't have any more time to waste with this silly crap. Take it as seriously as you like, and have the last word.

Ireland is the size of Illinois, it's people have been at war and killing each other for 100s of years. Half of it's people hate the other half. It's no wonder that half of it's people could hate one man.

This is how America sees Ireland. I know this to be a lie, just like I know the way a few loud people who hate Bush think they speak for all of us Irish is a lie.
