Am I the only person who is having trouble with these new SlikStik sticks? I can't hit diagonals. When I put the stocks sticks in the base they work OK. What is bad the bases or the sticks?
Of course SlikStik told me I had defective bases and convinced me to order new ones from him. Same problem. New Pear-Tops come with split washers and on the back of the business card is hand written "Put washer on before e-ring on Pear-Top sticks" I find that a bit questionable.

Are you maybe putting the actuator on upside down?
From Happs site:

Thanks for the reply. No the small diameter is toward the e-ring. Again I have no problems really with the stock sticks.
I don't recommend the Opitcals for 8-way though. I am not sure why they are so expensive and recommended so highly. I wish I had gone with microswitch sticks.

The SS sticks maybe putting the actuator at a slightly different height which could explain your problem.
Also, I have found that scratched actuators can affect the P360's. I have several P360's and they work great in 8 way but suck for 4 way.

I have the 360 and plays 8-way games perfectly and also plays Q-bert Style Games perfectly (via simple mod) is like having 2 joysticks in one. You can make the mod to be 4-way, the Q-bert was setup Diagonally.

I had a similar problem with one of mine. It worked OK, but it was very hard to find the diagonals on one side. I took it apart, cleaned it all off, and reassembled and it is working better.
For some reason the diagonals are still not as good as the other P360 I have (which works perfectly). I suspect that there may be a slight misalignment of the optics on one of the sensor-led pairs, so I'm leaning towards dissassembling it again to check alignment. It was not the actuator - as I already replaced that with no effect.
Still overally I prefer the 360's to my old conventional joysticks - they are much quicker and more responsive.
Cheers!

Thanks for the replies.
I am talking to Christian at SlikStik and he is being very cooperative and helpful. Everything I have heard about SlikStik is positive so I don't understand the difficulty with my particular install. I am going to test them again. If I figure out what the problem is I will post the results.
I will try cleaning the actuators as suggested above...
