Title: PayPal Question
Post by: 2600 on January 26, 2005, 05:01:46 pm
Stupid PayPal Question, but figured there are enough people here that use it that can answer my question.

I've been using PayPal for a while funded by CC, but was wondering how other people are receiving money.  I've read the FAQs, but I think they contradict what I do.  Ex.  I've got a personal account so I can't receive money thru CC, correct?  Then how am I paying people that I know have a personal account when I pay since my account is funded by CC.

Just curious because I was going to sell a few things and wanted to use paypal, but didn't know the intricacies of accepting money thru PayPal.  I'd rather not have to restrict people on how they pay me thru PayPal and don't really mind the % they take, but  I thought I would have to change to the next level account.

Anyways fill me in on what I'm missing. Thanks.

You can't receive money via CC, but you can via existing funds, bank funds or eCheck.

When you send money, if you just have a credit card, then the other person must have a premiere/business account.

Oh, even if you send existing funds to a premiere account, they still get socked for fees.

Yep, if you recieve money via paypal, you pay paypal fees.

But *only* with a premiere account!  Personal accounts are unaffected.

I'm starting to think of not using PayPal anymore anyway.  With eBay's new fee structure and PayPal's increasing limits to a personal account, it's just a matter of time.

I believe what you are saying as that is what is on Paypal's site.

But I swear when I've payed a couple of people here at BYOAC it lists their accounts as Personal Accounts.
