Title: Configuring AdvanceMame for the first time

Wow this is confusing.  Can someone lend a hand as to what steps I need to go through to set this up?  My specs:

Radeo 9000
27" ESA TV
S-Video connection

So I download/unzip AdvanceMame.  First I need to run advmame to generate a config file.  Done. 

Then I need to run svgawin /l to load the driver, correct?

Then I need to run advcfg to set the clock rates, correct?  This is where I have a problem.  I choose TV NTSC, then choose Generic - NTSC TV (USA).  Next screen I need to choose "centering".  I get three options.  Any of the optiosn leads me to an error message, "Calibration mode unsupported.  The video mode is incompatible with the monitor limitations." 

What am I doing wrong?  I thought the video card was supported (it seems to be in the list) and I thought any TV would work.  Any ideas?

Does Advancemame provide any benefit when you are using a TV?   (You might want to consider Mame32 or regular Mame with a frontend of your choice...)

I was under the impression that AdvanceMAME works better with TVs.  It automatically fills the screen for each game, rather than having to manually go through and adjust each game.  Is that not correct?

If you want to fill the entire screen just use regular mame and in the mame.ini choose not to keep the aspect ratio, change keepaspect from 1 to 0.  This will cause the games to fill the entire screen but they will be out of proportion though.

What if I want it to fill the screen, but keep the correct proportions?  Can this be done in regular MAME?  Isn't this an advantage of AdvanceMAME?

I have the exact same problem with my NVidia TI4200 and 27" TV connected via SVIDEO.

I'm running windows XP. On the 3rd screen I get the identical error message above. This keeps me from completing video setup, and advmame doesn't work (I get a blank screen with no vertical sync when I try to run a game).

What are we missing here??? I'd like to give advmame a shot!

i don't think advancemame works with the tv-out on your card.

if you're using tv-out, you'd be better off using normal "windows" mame and playing around with the many display options to get the best picture.

advmame is really best for driving an arcade monitor with your vga card.
