Title: How are the monitors that 8liners sells on ebay?
Post by: quarterback on January 24, 2005, 01:33:25 am
$160 for a 25" arcade monitor (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=49230&item=8161674337) doesn't sound like a bad deal to me.

Clearly these aren't new (or they'd say that they were) but does anybody have any first hand knowledge about these?  There are also no model numbers.  Are these 'refurbs' that genao has put new chassis' on?

Thanks

AFAIK, 8liners puts used TV tubes together with new chassis.

I'm wondering (as you) how good these are :)

I keep going back and forth between replacing my Hantarex Polo chassis with an 8liners board or goina all out with a D9200.

I was going to ask the same question.  I'm just finishing up building a cabinet and have started to look at monitors, which I really don't know much of anything about.  I've been running mame32 to a 27" rca tv with s-video.  I get a pretty blurry picture with the tv and was wondering how the 8liner might compare.  Also, can I just plug it into an ArcadeVGA card and into the wall or is there more to it than that?

Yeah I know.  Unfortunately 99% of the 8liners threads are about buying a chassis from them and not full monitors.

There is one thread here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,22239.0.html) in which 2 people mention buying the 8liners monitors off eBay, but the only info they provide is "'ll post a review when ti arrives and I plug it in." (with no followup review) and the other person saying "I picked  up a 25" complete monitor from them a few weeks ago and love it."

So I was just looking for more info than that.

BTW, your name (Kremmit) always makes the words/sound "ribbit... ribbit" pop into my head :)

Dunno about the full monitors, but I've got one of the 25" chassis, and it looks great on a tube/yolk from a 7000 series WG, (Except it has a blooming problem)

I had it installed with a 25" from a thompson tv (RCA) and had a soft focus problem with that tube. (No keystoning, etc) it's just when you would focus the center of the screen the edges would be blurry or vice versa.

I would use these to replace location game chassis, but for us picky bas*(&*^ at home, you might want to consider a real monitor.

Yes they work, but the quality is what you would expect from a budget part.

So would you say that it's is definitely not a worthwhile upgrade from a 25" tv with s-video?  I can't decide...

yeah old thread I know, but I wanted to see if anyone recently has used one of 8liners 25" converted TV's??

His website still says $160 + 50 shipping via ups....I emailed him and he replied back pretty quickly. Bad news (for me) is that the 25" monitors are now $200 + $100 shipping via forward air.

I also inquired about the arcade monitor chassis possibly for an emerson 27" crt I have in my possession....but he said that he's never converted a 27” tv….yet his website says “up to 27 inches” on the screen size. Oh and the monitor chassis in that size are $125 shipped now??

I really would like to do something as far as getting an arcade monitor, but the website(s) needs to be updated to reflect current pricing.

Anyways....has anyone purchased a 25" converted monitor from 8liners in the last year or so....how did you like the picture and did it come in a frame and ready to go out of the box?
