Title: Control panel OVERLOAD!
Post by: usedelectronics on January 24, 2005, 12:19:28 am
I spent some time "tinkering" with the CNC today...
This was the result:

What do you guys think of the layout on the larger control panel?

Very nice, nice cuts.

What are the routed circles around the joystick holes for (on the middle big CP)?

Those are recesses for the dust washers, so they sit under the artwork, instead of over it.

Of course, you know that the dust washers move right?  You made the circles large enough to accomodate that I assume.

Yes, The recesses are oversized to allow the washers to move.

Stupid Q: What's CNC?

It's a computer guided router that basically does all the cutting for you. All you have to do is supply it with the program of what to cut and secure your material down. The router does the rest. It is extremely precise as well, within 1/1000 of inch I believe.

That's correct.
Extremely accurate, and you'll end up with way better results than cutting by hand.

I put one together tonight for the old PS2.

When the Cuts are all this accurate, fasteners are really not needed. I just used tightbond glue and clamps, and it is WAY strong.
