Title: New Bowling Game that would ROCK in MAME (in a few years)
Post by: Daniel270 on January 23, 2005, 06:27:57 pm

Just found this one browsing around and thought it would look sooo great in my living room (and later in my gameroom).  I like the 8 player feature, too!

It's a decent game. I've played a few games at Starburst Coin in Toronto. they did have one in their showroom at one point.
I wouldn't hold your breath to get it in MAME though, we'll see the newer version sof Golden Tee first.

How 'bout this bad boy!  Looks cool, but not sure I get it.  Looks like a cross between bowling and marble madness?  Bowl over pedestrians?  I like it!  Has anyone played this one?

That's HyperBowl  (http://www.hyperbowl.com/products/home-game.html)  and yes the PC version is playable on our cabs.

Another couple of decent bowling games are:

World Class Bowling PC Version (http://www.terragame.com/bowling/173.html) enhanced graphics and slightly modified gameplay. Multiple lane types including a glow in the dark lane "cosmic bowl"

Gutterball 2 (http://www.terragame.com/gutterball-game.html) Is a game similar to HypeBowl but has announcers and a cartoon-ish feel which i stons of fun.

Excellent.  My DSL is acting like a 2400 baud modem tonight otherwise I'd check out some of those Hyperbowl samples. I'll try tomorrow.  Looks like a lotta fun!  Thanks for the links.

I bought Hyperbowl way back when , and I am **DYING to play it again.  I have the Install and serial number.  I even have the ORIGINAL EMAIL they sent me dated 5-14-2005 giving me the download link and the serial number.  Problem is when I run it, WebCops pops up and tells me The serial number was already entered on another computer!  Well YEAH.....  That was FIVE years ago, and I am now running a Core 2 Duo.  I did pay for it, but now am locked out.  The official web page is long since closed, so the Email is useless.   I found a torrent that had a cracked copy, but it has zero seeders so it is useless.  Found another but it has not started even though it says 2 seeders.  IS there a WebCops crack that will allow me to USE SOFTWARE I LEGALLY PURCHASED????  I do not condone piracy, but when I pay for something, and then get told I can not use it, it gets to be a little upsetting.   HELP!!!!!!

UPDATE:  I GOT IT WORKING!!!!   WOOHOO!!!!!

Total BS that you buy a game, and then get locked out of it.

Bleh.  The game does not look all that good... especially for todays technology
standards.

If you had the room and money, this is a much better option:

1960 Bowl a Rama ball bowler looking to buy one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9Tz0RyYuwQ#)

You saw that this was a game from 2005, right?

Anyone could have make a better looking game in 1990s using pre-rendered graphics
rather realtime 'crap'.

(Heck, you could even use real photo-graphic captures instead of 3d, and make a
better looking game)

Of course, Id probably prefer a game that was stylized and artistic over a hyper-
real looking game.  And more so, would prefer a game that gave the player more
accurate control and challenge above that..

Gota say, those EM Bowlers are very fun.  Especially with a group competition.  :)

I don't think bowling games are all that suited for a cabinet.  I used to when I first got my trackball and was desperately trying to justify it, but now, not so much.

I've gotta agree with Xiaou2 on this one.  Some sort of real bowling makes it better.

BUT  if your space is limited then you should just buy a wii.  There are a suprising number of bowling games on it (wii sports and sports resort excluded) and even more suprising is the fact that they are good and actually fun to play!
