Title: How come no one sells cabs/parts in Boston?
Post by: bioart on January 21, 2005, 11:24:35 pm
I've been watching the boards for quite some time, and there's rarely a good lead on cabs for sale and/or anyone selling lots of stuff locally (not to mention that all the auctions are fairly far away....)

Is this a reflection of the new englanders being really out of the arcades?  Most of the mall arcades I knew off are now gone...  (Or they only have racing/fighting and or dance games...)

This really stinks :)

Try Coin-Op Connection in Brockton.

He Has huge warehouse full of parts and cabs/pinball.  He's been in business for years, but been alittle bit hard to get ahold of recently :(

I've gotten stuff from him before, and his prices are extremely fair (and no shipping)

You can't be serious.  New England, Boston especially, is like the KINGDOM of arcade stuff.

If you're not finding anything, you're looking in the wrong places.  Where are you looking?

Holy CRAP yeah, Boston is so full of collectors and stuff flying around that it's hard NOT to get stuff.  Seriously, there is a lot of stuff, and so much competition for it, that sometimes it makes us wish we lived in a less hot arcade place... you just have to learn where to look.

Isn't Boston just a short trip away from the Capitals of Classic Arcade games, Hampton Beach and Weirs Beach, New Hampshire?

Two hours without traffic, if there are any tie ups, 3+ hours.

Doh,

I've been looking around for auctions and such.  Didn't know about the stores/history of the area :) goes to show you what a transplant misses by not coming to Boston till grad school :P  and I thought being here for 10 years was enough... oh the life of a sheltered geek...

I will check out more places, any suggestions where to start?

Thanks!

Start with craigslist and the usenet groups.  Work your way out from there.

I went to craigslist > Boston > For Sale (http://boston.craigslist.org/sss/) and the right at the top of the page is:

Full Size 1945 III Arcade Machine - $250

And that's without even searching for anything like "mame" or "arcade" or "video game"
