Title: Warehouse of stand up games in Phoenix, Arizona
Post by: thedyingmatt on January 21, 2005, 10:35:32 am
So I was checking out the craigslist for Tucson and found this enticing little warehouse in phoenix, said he had about 140 cabinets he just bought, so I emailed him and here's his response.

"Matt, I just bought 140 cabinets with 27" Wells Gardner U 3000 monitor's some are brand new others are slightly used. The monitors are set up to be used with a computer not for a regular video game. If you have any interest I can E-mail you a picture of one."

So I had to make sure that these were ready for a PC and he said yes, their ready for a personal computer to be put inside, somehow I find that hard to believe.

I have pictures of the machine, and as soon as someone tells me how to put them on here, I'll do it, or if you want the pictures sent to you let me know.

It's an Arizona Diamondbacks home run challenge machinge, with FERRIS sprawled across the base of the control panel..

I has a trackball setup so it's going to need some modification.

He said he wanted 850 dollars for the new ones..

Is this a good deal??  Or am I better off hunting around for other deals on Mame compatible cabs????

First of all, save the emailed image on your hard drive. Then make a new post here on the board. Above the smiley face icons you'll see thumbnail sized images. Click on the second from the left square image. If you roll over it, it should say "insert image". Follow the directions.

$850? A piece? Sounds like too much for me.

Look right under where you type the message.  There is a "Additional Options..." link.  Click on that and you will be able to attach your images.

About the price...  If I had that much to spend, I would buy a jamma cab of one of my favorite games, or a favorite that isn't working great in MAME.  Use a JPAC and maybe a dual jamma connector (I say maybe on the dual jamma connector because I haven't tried it), then you have the best of both worlds.  You can get a really nice dedicated cab for $850.

My cab is a Tekken 2 (not original, the cabinet is from a 4-player game).  All I have to do to switch between Tekken 2 and MAME is swap the jamma plug.

By the way, 4-player cabs are great for a 2-player MAME setup.  I just made a new panel to fit on the original box. With 2 coin doors, You can leave one functional, and gut the second one.  Great for accessing the PC.

This may be a little late but better late then never huh.  I've acutally been down to this warehouse and seen these machines they are pretty nice and from what I could see they basically were brand newwith minimal wear and tear.  That being said I dont think they are worth it for 850 bucks I could probably find 2 fully working jamma cabs with the game included.

He did offer me a MK2 cab with no game board for 250 I thought about talking him down too 200 and taking it but I ended up finding less beat up cabinet with game power supply and everything on craigslist for 200 and talked the guy down to 180.  Just imagine at that price I could have picked up 4 used cabs with games for the price of 1 newish cab without a game.

Its good to see somebody from Arizona on this board though unfortunataly there arent a whole lot of crazy good deals around here but they do come up like my find of craigslist or ebay.  I know for a fact that there is some guy in tucson that has a warehouse full of stuff but I dont remember what his ebay name is.  Personally I saved a favorite search under ebay for local arcade stuff and I view it daily to see if there is anything new.

From your post I'm assuming you live in Tucson so if you ever find a decent deal in Pheonix and want to buy it or have somebody check it out for you before hand and take some high rez pics I could probably hook you up.  Heck I might even be able to pick something up for you if need be.  I'm kind of maxed out as far as cabs go right now so unless I find a crazy deal or something free I wont be getting any thing for a while but I will be sure to message you about any deals I find.  And if you pick up a cab but still find a crazy deal or free stuff here in pheonix that you cant use if you would let me know that would be great.

Hope to hear more from you DyingMatt
