I' m trying to setup a web page using my computer. I'm looking at Apache Web Server program and using DYDNS to re-route it to my home computer. Has anyone done soemething similar or this can't be done ?
-
it can be done, but i hope you have some serious bandwidth.
-
heh bandwidth is dependant on who you can get to visit the page , never that easy to get tons of visitors , now if your hosting tons of downloadable files , thats another matter.
-
I just want to put a simple page with pictures, clips, For sale, etc...all Arcade related. I know I can use Geocities, Yahoo etc.. for web pages but once your limit is meet, no one can access your page until its resets again.

Setting up a dedicated server would be an absolute pain in the ass. If you'd like I'll give you a free home on joymonkey.com, I've got 75gigs of bandwidth so I'm not really worried about going over. I can set you up an FTP account and you'd have an address something like joymonkey.com/~thenasty

or just get some hosting... do you have a domain?
i do hosting, and can help you out..maybe for a trade or something? let me know.

If you absolutely want to host it on your own machine, try Xitami (http://www.xitami.com/). It is far easier to use and administrate than apache. It has some cool features and include remote administration. Being free is pretty cool too.
Hope it helps,
ps it took me a couple of extra minutes to reply as Magnet_Eyes boobs had me in a trance.
