I just installed Mamewah and it seems to work fine. It loads up and I generated my list and the artwork comes up. When I select a game and press 1 it says "loading game name" and then the dos box comes up like it is loading mame and then it goes back to the mame screen like when I started.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. List generates fine, but the game will not load.
Using Windows XP Pro with windows command line mame and mamewah. Hope somebody can shed some light on this.
Did you just download the newest version of MameWah as well?

I followed all the instructions. I just downloaded Mamewah and it was the newest version. It is driving me crazy. Have you used any other Front ends?

You guys might want to post this in the software section. While it is here, this seems that there might be a problem with mame itself, but Mamewah seems to be working fine. Check all your command settings in the mame.ini file and make sure you have all your directories and options in there correct.

99% of the time this means your roms are bad - verify them with ClrMAMEPro or RomCenter.
As Huib said post questions like this in the software forum in future, you're more likely to get a response...

i had the same problem i think - to cure it i set the ini file (in the INI folder) to say 'Pass rom path to mame' or something... (sorry am not at my mame machine as i type this so i can't give you the specific line). was using latest mame command line version on XP. it worked, but not totally sure how... !

also you can set the dos box to never appear (useful once you know everthing is working) by setting the 'showdosbox" variable to =0, also in the mame.ini file.
The problem with that is that (for MAME) games with bad dumps will cause what looks like a hang and you'll have to Ctrl+Alt+Del. The 'autodosbox' setting is better. Don't use it for non-MAME emulators tho...
FYI The show_dos_box setting and some others have been removed in the latest version of MW. You need to use flags in the commandline_format section, ie {dosbox}, {nodosbox} or {autodosbox}.

Here try this it might not be the solution you are looking for but when I was setting up MameWah in my cabinet I used this software: MameWah setup.

This is only compatible with versions up to 0.97, which is very old now...

I agree, we need to move this thread to software. Anyhow, it is not the roms because mine works fine with Mame32. I'm just trying to set up MameWAH for when I finish my cab and stick my pc in it to run emulators only. I'll have to tinker around with it more, but it is definately not bad ROMS. ;D

Are your MAME and MAME32 versions the same? The roms might be good for your MAME32 version but not for MAME version...
