The "ignore user" is the best defence for offending PM. Yes, that might be a nice feature, but for now simply reply and put us in the "To" field instead.

I got the a PM from the spammer too. It's from someone called randomaccess2 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=profile;u=6446). Wonder how many people he sent it to?

Did that, think it was SirPoonga that I sent it to...  Did ya get it Poonga?  I don't see him banned yet.  ??? :P

On a related note, he seems to have put an e-mail address on his profile...  Anyone know of a place to sign an address up for spam?  Granted it's probably a fake address but on the off chance that it isn't I think it's worth the time it takes to copy and paste it onto some webpage that promises butloads of spam!  :P

The account has been terminated. He had no posts and was a new register.

Also, keep in mind that moderators do not have the ability to see private messages. There is no interface in the software for anyone (even Admins) to view them. I have to query the database directly to see them. Thus, the reporting won't help that much.

There is a reason that Private Messages have no interface such as this; they're PRIVATE ;D. None of the admins or the moderators get involved with PM other than reports of abuse. Even then, only John or I can look at the database directly and evaluate a claim.

We don't need a bunch of these --->  :police:

Do you think a 24-hour waiting period for new accounts to be activated would put an end to this and general spam in the forums?
Or do you think it would discourage legitimate newbies from joining?

I feel it might discourage them. However, I'm looking into putting an image verification tool in there so it'll be harder to automate. We want this forum to be as open as possible while still curbing this level of abuse. For right now, please keep the eye out and report as appropriate ;)

And here I thought I was the only one who was special!

It almost appears as if this was either a board-wide spam, or if they picked a thread to harvest the names from, and sent it to all those names.

The e-mail address was just a free setup from juno, so more than likely useless in working to give him some form of disincentive to come back....meh, whatcha gonna do?   :)

I didn't get any spam. >:(

Instead of a 24 wait for everything, is it possible to activate the PM feature after 5 posts or something?  That should at least keep people honest (for the first day)  ;)
