Title: No SNES games...
Post by: Chazz on October 14, 2002, 09:26:01 pm
I've set the .APP files up for ArcadeOS, but when I change to ZSNES none of the games are shown...

Any idea why?

Try this solution and work from there:
First make a directory named c:\ZSNES
Copy the Original ZSNES.APP file into your ARCADEOS
directory.  Copy ZSNES and your roms all into the
c:\ZSNES directory.  Run Arcadeos and everything
should be fine.

I've unzipped the ZSNES.APP files into my ArcadeOS directory and did not edit them at all.  I installed ZSNES to C:\ZSNES and put my ROMs in the same directory.  I did not edit any of the files.  I still do not get any games in the list.  Any sugestions?

Did you create the directory in Win XP or Dos?  If Windows then delete it and recreate the directory in dos.  (ZSNES Dir)

Your .APP file should be located in ARCADEOS only.  Your ZSNES directory should contain zsnes.exe and your unzipped rom files.  I had a similar problem like this.  I reinstalled arcadeos and created the directory in dos.  It seemed to do the trick.

I'm running Win98, but boots right to DOS.  I created the directory in DOS.  The .APP file is only in the ArcadeOS, and ZSNES.EXE and the unzipped ROMs are in C:\ZSNES.  I'm still getting nothing....   :'(

How bout this...
Try installing another emulator like COLEM or Magic Engine or Nesticle.  Also make sure there is no .NMS file.  Maybe you created it incorrectly?  Try another emu and see it is works or its broke too.  It may help...

Also there are some files that are created with arcadeos the first time you enter the emulator.  Delete those files.  I forget what the extension is, I will look it up.  Perhaps you forgot to clear those out?

I'm usually pretty good with this stuff, but this one has me stumped.  I tried configuring everything the first time I tried to set up ZSNES, but this second time around I did a very basic install.  Just added the .APP files to C:\ARCADEOS and ZSNES and the roms to C:\ZSNES.  That would be great if you could let me know if I do need to delete or re-configure some of the file.  Thanks a million Superdude!!

In your ARCADEOS directory make sure you have only these files for zsnes.

ZSNES.APP , ZSNES.PCX, ZSNES.DAT

Delete the other ZSNES.*

Restart Arcadeos and 6 to the ZSNES emu screen.  Arcadeos should have built new files for you and you should be able to see all your roms.

No .NMS file?  There is a ZSNES.NMS file in my ArcadeOS directory, but there is nothing in the file.  Should I delete this?

SUCCESS!!  Deleting those files solved the problem!  Thanks Superdude for all the help!!

But now I have a few more questions.  I can't get any sound.  I've changed the sound setting in the ZSNES.CFG from 0 to 1, but every-time I go back to ArcadeOS I don't get any sound, and when I go back to the ZSNES.CFG file the sound setting is back to 0.

My second questions is....
The display looks great, except the screen is a little offside, and not full screen.  Is there any way to correct this?

Thanks again!!

sound seems to be quite this issue with zsnes.  I'm having problems with it as well.  I checked out the zsnes forums and there seems to be a lot of people having problems with sound as well.  There are some suggestions on their forums, so check them out if you haven't.  Please post any fixes, tho, here if you figure it out.  Thanks!

If you dont want the zsnes.cfg to get written over everytime you run it.  Set the .APP file parm writetoini=0.  I too am having problems with the sound on the emulator but I havent gotten a chance to play with it.  I am working on video right now for mame.   If I get around to this topic I will post my findings.
