So after looking for a while longer it seems that a site called psxshop is selling something called an act labs sga pc light gun...it's all in german or dutch... I'm just wondering what the hell this is all about, maybe if I can order that gun from that site, or find one of that model easier than the pc usb light gun that has been discontinued.
here the link : http://www.psxshop.nl/product_info.php/cPath/25_200/products_id/342?osCsid=6f94da438b7c84606b8afa79294dedf5
once again maybe you've heard this one before, please don't shoot me down i'm new :)
thanks for any information

The ACT LABS SGA light gun was discontinued ages ago. It only works with windows 95/98 and maybe 2000 and connects to the legacy game port that used to be built into sound cards. I've had one in the past (2 years or so ago) and it is crap.
Sorry, but thats my .02

Well thanks for your information, I'm surprised how quickly someone responded.

There are a couple of decent guns. If I were you, I'd check out the reviews at Retro Blast (http://www.retroblast.com/hardware.html). Kev reviews the ACT LABS guns and LikSang guns.
Hope this helps,

Why was it crap? Because of the O/S limitations? The legacy game port? Didn't work? Why?

One reason was that it needed to be calibrated every time it was used. The newer ACT LABS guns 'USB' (also discontinued, but much better) basically only needed to be recalibrated when resolutions were changed. The USB version was an ugly silver phase pistol looking thing (dorky Enterprise referrence), The SGA had the same style, but in a weird gold like color which looked a little goofier than the silver. Basically performance was ok, but just didn't seem as reliable as the USB version or the BIO gun I had purchased from LikSang. The use of the game port might even prove to be a bigger problem than the performance and asthetics however since you really don't see the gameport on soundcards or on motherboards for the last couple of years.
Again just my .02

You can also find other threads on this board that describe the heart ache that is the SGA like this one here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,30187.from1105535007.html#new)
