Title: mame with medium resolution monitor
Post by: vincentc77 on January 12, 2005, 08:25:19 am
What mame version and vga card are recommended to run mame on a medium resolution monitor from NFL Blitz.  I believe the cab was originaly a Sega VF.  Could the monitor be modded to a 15k?

AFAIK, only option is Advancemame.  There are many compatible video cards listed.  It is possible to do this in windows using Powerstrip, but I've had mixed results with Powerstrip so far.

I'm setting up a standard res monitor using DOS Advancemame and a Nvidia Riva TNT/2, which seems to be working pretty well so far.

Now if only I could get my sound card to work in DOS  ::)

I'd be glad to point you in the right direction if you decide to go this route.   My initial advice is that you should be comfortable working in DOS.

Thanks,

Many original Sega VF cabs had Hantarex dual sync monitors. Try to find a model id on the monitor chassis somewhere and we can tell you if it can do 15kHz.

Ok,

I got the Trident Blade T64 installed and I'm booting into DOS.

Here is what I found on the main board...

025a1452-001
85x0414-001
p767

three jumpers...
p702 h sync
p704 norm
p300 norm comp

I have pictures, but I don't know how to post them...

Try the i and k keys (k first I suggest, seems like a horizonatal problem) (and also shift i and k)

This page shows what the screen looks like when you get locked in:  http://easymamecab.mameworld.net/html/monito10.htm

And this page is very helpful as well:

You might need to add the special lines for the trident card (if you haven't already)

Shouldn't the device_video_hclock be 25?

He did say medium resolution.
