Ok, I can't seem to get this to work. I have a regular USB Gamepad that I play games with. In the Arcade mode, it works fine for looking around. But once in a game, it does nothing. I have tried doing setup from within mame, but it doesnt even recognize button pushes from the pad. Yet in FPS mode it works. I tried the Joystick=0 to 1 thing, no effect.
Thanks,
Brian

you have to setup mame for joystick use too. in you mame folder open mame.ini set the joystick option to 1.

Actually due to heirarchy changes, unless you want to use the joystick for all games, you don't do it that way anymore.
It's a tad complicated, so I suggest looking at the mame docs. (Translation: although I know how it works I have no way of explaining it)

hehe...sorry...it has been a while since I got a newer version of mame...I guess its time to check it out again ;)
When were these changes introduced?
