Title: How do I hack a dreamcast controller.

Hey guys I'm kinda in need of knowing how to hack a dreamcast controller. I looked on DC2Jamma and it says to scratch away the certain parts of the buttons. The thing is I want someone to explain this to me like I'm a child...I even wanna know how the microswitch works with the arcade buttons.

Q: Do I only have to solder one wire to each button on the hacked pad?

Q: How does a microswitch work?

Below is a picture of the button and switch. What does COM1, N03 and NC2 stand for and what do they do??

Well, you could save yourself the trouble and send them to me if you'd like, if not I will explain everything in detail. I am just trying to save myself the trouble if I have to type everything. :P

Honestly, you'd really be better off having Hiub1 do them for you.

Here is a sega dc controller that is marked up where you need to connect wires to the buttons.

Yes but you also need to connect one wire to the ground on pad that daisy chains to every button.

or you can have it done by others... I suck at hacking (my last try at a mouse killed 3 before I finally bought 2 from Oscar)

note:  he is having troubles finding more joysticks at the moment... but he will use yours pretty cheap.

Stellarola, do you realize that BYOAC is has many FAQs on these simple concepts (arcade controls)?  Do you see a vertical list of FAQ's on the left side of your screen (with different colored buttons)?

If you don't see the faqs, then you may have linked directly to the arcadecontrols.org forum (which is different than the arcadecontrols.com website).  Go to the homepage (www.arcadecontrols.com (http://www.arcadecontrols.com) and click on the "Controls" button on the left, then click on the "button" section for a detailed description (and pics) of microswitch buttons.  There are FAQ's on every other area of arcade controls including Game Consoles (dreamcast hacking) and monitors, and cabinet construction.

I find it surprising that most people don't even know the rest of this great site even exists.
