I'm thinking about buying a used X-Box to put inside my arcade cabinet but only two arcade(ish) games come to mind:
Guilty Gear XX #Reload
and
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection
The only thing is that GGXX#R is out for the PC and the SFAC games are already in MAME or available on the Dreamcast (I'm putting a DC in my cabinet too).
So... what would be the point of putting an X-Box into a cabinet? What games are good for an arcade?

Dead or Alive 3 & Ultimate
NFL Blitz
NHL Hitz
House of the Dead III
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance & Deception
Pure Pinball
Soul Calibur II
Capcom vs SNK 2
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Sega Soccer Slam
Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Those are some I could think of off the top of my head.

Street Fighter Anniversary? Why? Just download the real Mame editions of Street Fighter....
Any fighting game might be better in mame

...because Street Fighter Anniversary has Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.

Mortal Kombat Deception would be sensational in a cab!

xboxes are better then PC's in cabinets, especially if you have the luxury of running a 1.4ghz xbox in a cab. I don't really dig OS's on arcade cabinets, the whole concept of using a kb and mouse on an arcade cabinet defeats the purpose. you can run alot of the same stuff you can on a pc on an xb, esp the 1.4ghz. and more. plus you have xbox live. and if you set it up right friendtechs 1.4ghz xboxes WILL run on xbox live.
And could be a legit alternative for board replacements in cabinets. You can make xboxes boot only 1 arcade game. Not sure how legal it is though or if you could put it in an arcade and charge for it. I don't see why not though. The idea of going beyond a mvs slot 6 in public sounds neat.
Hooking rgb up from an xbox isn't all that hard, and if you have a ghetto cab and you're running a TV it's even easier. Hooking arcade controllers up isn't too bad. They sell cheap plastic arcade style controllers that the boards inside work perfectly for arcade buttons.
if you're Anti Microsoft and that's what stops you from putting an xbox in your cab. keep this in mind, if you purchase the xbox and never purchase a MS game, then you're taking money from MS not giving them money. they're basically buying you a computer for your arcade cabinet:)
put an xbox in your cab, you'll enjoy it.

How well does dark legacy work because of the non-analog stick?
(eg. when you hookup an X-BOX pad to arcade controls, you normally hookup the d-pad and not the analog pad, right?)

Mame does not emulate any of the CPS3 games, most notably the street fighter III series (although SF3 3rd strike is the only one that you REALLY need)
-
Ah man the DC will suffice all your needs. SFIII is on DC, all the other SF are in mame. Gauntlet Legends is on DC, and hell what is the difference between Legends and Legacy?

Oh, don't get me wrong! I'm not looking to replace my soon-to-be Dreamcast setup with an X-BOX, I'm thinking about supplementing my setup with an X-BOX. It turns out that my friend broke his X-BOX (by trying to solder in a modchip), and I'm buying it for $35. If I can get it to work again (there is a good chance) then I'll have two X-BOX's, so why not throw one of them into the cabinet?
You definitely can't replace the Dreamcast though, it has classics like Soul Calibur, Chu Chu Rocket, etc, etc...
The only advance on the X-BOX is having a hard drive (eg. no disc swapping) and of course better graphics.

I'm in the process of putting my Xbox in my cab, and rather hack up some old arcade stick for the controls, I'll be puting one of these in for 1P buttons:
http://www.xbox365.com/news/news.cgi/article/EpukpZyVEpiiVMNLuy6510
It's got everything I need, expect the two buttons underneath the analogue stick (when you push them down)
The analogue stick has the right hand analogue stick built-in, at the top, so you can play ANY game, although the likes of Halo are difficult to play with any accuracy, but it's possible!
There's even a d-pad to hack straight out for your digital controls.
It's going to go perfectly in the cantre of my panel - in-between P1 & P2 controls!
It's great for the N64 emulator, too!

edit:
Sorry, I didn't make it clear - I've already got the controller! It works with every game I've tried it with, from Tiger Woods (get that joystick swinging!) to Crimson Skies and FIFA football.
Best of all, it only cost

or get one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8157833020&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
and get a DC -> Xbox Adaptor and see how that works!

Also midway just released arcade treasures 2. Now you can play mortal kombat 2 & 3 without sound issues and frame dropping.
