Ha, thought that would get your attention.

When I read the title, my first reaction was to hook you up with my sister in-law.
Second reaction was that I couldn't do that to anyone with a clear conscience (sp)
;D
Sorry can help with the actual question.

I had the same problem, but fortunately my balls were not yet mounted. ;D
Use lots of penetrating oil. Let it soak in. This is probably the only thing you can do,
I had to put mine in the freezer for a while, put them in a vice and whack them with a hammer.
Obviously this would be rather difficult while they are still attached to the control panel.

First, I'll assume you already removed the E-clip right? (heh ok dumb question, but you never know round here...)
Next, try firmly gripping the ball and TWIST.

Update:
I e-mailed bob robert to see if he had replacement grommets so I could just rip the old one off and order a replacement. Here was his response:
"No.... no one has had those repro'd & it usually ruins the whole stick when you try to remove them. They rust solid to the shaft & even a torch won't save the shaft :-("
Looks like I will have to buy new joysticks. Anyone know where I can get a red ball top and blue ball top old leaf style joystick for my cab?
-
Wyluli,
It is possible to get some of them loose.
-
If you decide to cut them off, cut the shaft, not the grommet. It could be used for another stick, or sold.
-
Those sticks pop up on ebay now and then... even blue ones.
