Title: any advice?
Post by: dirt on January 07, 2005, 05:50:09 pm
my wife is looking for a work at home job so she can watch our 2 kids and still make some money. does any here work at home or know someone that does so i can give her some pointers on where to look. she has done data entry, service claims, word processing, customer service. she used to work in the office at a local motorcycle dealership. she also used to do all the paperwork for her fathers camera repair shop.

any info would be greatly appreceated. because as you all know the more money coming into the house means more money to buy games with.

home day care. most people charge like $200/week/kid, you get like five kids and youre making $1,000/week.

our two kids already drive her crazy. i think she'd loose it if she had to watch more kids everyday. this was actually the first idea i told her and i just got the "you have got to be kidding" stare.

Are you sure it was the "you've got to be kidding" stare, and not the "for merely mentioning it, you're banned from sex for a week, and I'm going to shove a poker into your brain through your nose" stare?

Have her look into medical transcribing.

My sister-in-law was going to do it when she got laid off / canned.

The schooling she was going to do had two options - one was a several weeks deal that cost less, the other one was a couple weekends deal that cost more, but you were certified/qualified in no time at all, and they helped to get you started (referrals and knowledge of how to get more referrals, I think)

I'll call her right now for ya.

Alright.  My bad, I was WOEFULLY underinformed on how it worked, but it isn't all too terrible.

She was looking at a few of them, and the one that said a few weekend classes thingy wasn't the same thing.

Medical transcription:

It's a work at your own pace course - part of it is online, other parts are mailed to you.  The course is designed to be a year course, but she will be completing it early, and from her very own mouth, if you really wanted to jam on it and get certified, you could probably get it done in about 6 months, maybe even a touch sooner.

She's sending some info home with my wife, who's over there now, and later on today after I get back from the auction, I'll see if my scanner will work long enough to scan the documents, or if not, I'll type you out what I think the pertinent information is.

From what I understand, once you get into it, it's very good pay, and usually nice steady work.

Maybe she'd want to start the classes on the side while doing something else until she gets certified?
