Hello,
I am experiencing several issues with ArcadeOS.

I am experiencing several issues with ArcadeOS. I'm trying to use 2.52 with Vantage 1.12 running in DOS 7.0.
I ran vantage (gamename) -genaos, but it did not create the additional vantage files, so I put the vantage.* files from ARCEXTRA_v2.5.ZIP into my AOS directory.
I don't know why...oh, sure I do. Leave out the gamename. Just 'vantage -genaos'
When I launch AOS, it defaults to MAME as my emulator. "M" (and 6) allows me to change emulator, and I have (3) to choose from: Mame, Vantage and XTC. Odd, because I only have Vantage loaded on this particular machine.
Instead of Mame as an emulator, try putting vantage.exe as the Mame exe, and the VAntAGE dir as the working dir.
If I change to Vantage and run a game (in AOS), it launches, but when I exit (back to AOS) it sets Mame back to the emulator. I'd like to set this to default to Vantage. Possible?
That I'm not sure on.
Is the Arcadeos.cfg file made to be modified in an editor, or only through the pop-up menus once AOS is running? I'm asking this because using edit in DOS tells me the file is read only and I cannot change any of the settings.
You sure can, and I'm not sure why yours is read-only. Make it not by:
attrib -r arcadeos.cfg
A few other problems I've noticed so far are:
*The player 1 2 combo does not function as the escape button.
Try setting it up that way in VAntAGE. Go to change it, and when it asks what key you want to change it to, hit both keys at once.
*When I launch a game, there is about an inch of screen not being used around the game (17" PC monitor). This area is full of garbled graphics ONLY when running a Vantage game through AOS. Any ideas? I've tried vantage (gamename) -arcade, but my monitor won't sync.
You can't use the -arcade tag with a VGA monitor, only an arcade monitor. I can't say anything about the garbled graphics (how odd!) but the border is normal for a VGA monitor. You can try adjusting the settings to make that area smaller. But if it's only happening when you run it from AOS, and not from the command prompt? That's odd.
*Only 80 rom sets show up in AOS even though there are 92 in the \roms directory. The other 12 are the Mame roms of games that were added to Vantage 1.12.
That's because you don't have the proper AOS files. See above for the proper generation method.
Thanks in advance,

I was having problems with DOS, Vantage and ArcadeOS too. I have ended up using a simple front end called Games Launcher from here http://www.dribin.org/dave/game_launcher
Very basic options, but easy to configure and did everything I wanted. . . .

Peale,
I've messed with it for a while.

If you can, please try to figure which isn't showing up.

Just edit the cfg file in notepad and set default emulator to what you want. On a different note, AOS only uses 256 colors, incase you don't see any screenshots.

Peale,
It was set to -L. The other 90 were/are -H. They're all there.

Peale,
Just wanted to post that I solved the "garbled graphics" issue that was appearing around the outside of my games.
