Title: My CP -OR- how I spent my Christmas vacation.
Post by: JCKnife on December 29, 2004, 04:03:38 pm
Got this done last night. It's just 1/2" plywood wrapped in heavy-duty (non-adhesive) vinyl. I consider it a good "first draft" and a learning experience. Now I just need to build a cabinet...

Looks good. What exactly is that vinyl you are talking about. Give us some more info about that. Other than that it looks very nice!

They sell it by the yard at Jo-Ann Fabrics. It was the thickest one they had--I think it mentioned something about being suitable for nautical applications. It seems extremely tear-resistant--even at cuts. I'm curious to see how it will hold up myself.

Interesting... I never thought of going to a fabrics store to get vinyl. How did you fasten it onto the surface?

How did the outside corners turn out.

Did you have to dog-ear them and if so is it noticeable?

THe four in the front came out great (of course the slight corners in the front are the easiest). One of the ones in the back is a little hinkey but it won't be visible when installed.

I'm realizing now that I've left very little room on the underside to mount the IPAC and Optipac. I'm wishing I'd put the pause (yellow) button somewhere else. But I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I've recently printed my control panel myself (just today, in fact) and it looks pretty good.

Well now it's a toss up since you threw your hat into the ring, although I probably have it due to numbers, now....I may even overtake the winner, but we'll have to hold another vote.  I may have a shot, as he won by the one vote that was cast.  ;D
