Honestly, I might, better than a mame cab.

I like this on the auction:

"This is a private auction. Your identity will not be disclosed to anyone except the seller. If you are already bidding on this item, view your bidder status."

Phew!  I was afraid I'd end up on the NAMBLA mailing list after bidding!

Ewww.   :-[

Who's that black guy on the arcade game?

Looks like he might be the son of that old white lady in the Captain Crunch suit I've been seeing on the news!

Man 3rd eye, what's your fascination (obsession?) with this game?  ;D

I remember playing it in the arcade when it came out, but it kinda sucked. We (3 of us) finished it. I think I recall it was a real short game.

My understanding is that the boards suicide really easily, making it a very rare game.  ???

Course, between playing it back in the day, and playing it now in MAME,  I gotta wonder why the high price and demand... it doesn't seem like that great a game to me... even if it IS a SEGA machine.   :-\

LOL, my intention of this thread was to get a shock responce and I succeeded. I dont think Id sell a mame cab that plays that game plus 5000 others to get one game thats probably a conversion. I would like the game though. I always liked it when I was really little.  1500 dollars seems liek a little much to ha ha. I saved the pictures from that auction, may make a good next project. I wonder If you can still find the original sideart and PCB of that game, for my next project I Was thinkin about making a dedicated cab, not another mame cab. (My mame cab isnt even done yet, ha ha, Its near the end though.) You people really made me laugh with your responces. Joy monkey I like that little animation.

Did a quick little search around the internet, it doesn't look very easy to find the original board or artwork of that game if I wanted to make my own.

The funny thing is the fact that the seller has a Krull listed at a 3rd of that price, and Krull is worth A LOT more than Moonwalker is.

Oh, that IS a dedicated Moonwalker, but it is in crappy condition.

Maybe he was just hoping Michael Jackson would buy it, I don't think Michael has one, since they showed his arcade on that TV special and there was no Moonwalker in sight.

That doesnt look like a dedicated moonwalker, the one at KLOV is way different, and everywhere else I see moonwalker cabs look like the one at KLOV. The one on ebay looks like a smaller cab with a smaller monitor, like an old 80s cab converted maybe? Also, the control panel is alot smaller and has a different overlay than the one on KLOV. Im not sure though, maybe Im wrong. anyways, Does anyone know where you could find the kit to that game, like a PCB, CPO, Sideart, bezel, and marquee. You can find the brochure that goes on top on ebay. I would like to make a dedicated moonwalker possibly.

Don't rely on KLOV for "correct" cab photos. KLOV is FULL of photos of bad conversions. (unfortunately)

Questions from other buyers
Q:  Hello. I'm VERY much interested in having this game..only problem is, I'm a 20 year old girl who lives from pay check to pay check. LOL. So....if no one...

A:  Hi Monique,Thanks for your interest. This is my favorite game I own,and I have been hiding it from everyone for years because I did not want to sell it.I...more

That's not the real reason he's been hiding it, of course...  :o

I've watched the attract mode demo of this game, and I think it should really be called a Michael Jackson simulator.  In the game, much as in real life, Michael has to go around "touching" kids, who then disappear God knows where...

I wish KLOV had some trivia on this game.  I'd love to know whether Sega made this game because Michael was such a "hot commodity" in 1990 ::) , or if it was commissioned by the "gloved one" to feed his uncontrollable ego.

Speaking of MJ games, has anyone tried this one?  http://www.zooass.com/games/neverland/neverland.shtml

SEGA made Moonwalker because MJ was not yet revealed as a freak of nature back in the early '90's... just an eccentric (and universally popular) musician.  ::)

There were Genesis, GameGear and SMS versions too. Side scrolling beat-em-ups with video game versions of MJ's songs, an all powerful "Dance Attack" and many innocent children who would happily chirp "Michael!" upon rescue. Pretty disturbing in retrospect.  :P

As for that being a dedicated unit, I remember a different one when that game was in arcades, but that's a good 12-14 years back...  :-\

Not being a MJ historian/fan I'm gonna try to put this together... but I think in 1989/1990 MJ was still the worlds most popular performer.

the ebay auction cab looks like a conversion. heres a pic of the factory original cab. the flyer (http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=flyerdb&subpage=thumbs&id=675) has some cool info also.

The video with the giant statue of michael jackson and the helicopters and spotlights around it wasnt a music video of his, it was a commercial used for the history album i believe, its on the "Michael jackson History part 1 and 2 dvds" before the actual movie starts, like a preview/ advertisement. Michael at the top of his game and most popularity were the bad and thriller albums, which the game moonwalker is based on. Michael was still normal back then, its the dangerous album where things started going downhill.  So for everyone on this thread talking about michael being a freak, yeah he is now, but when the moonwalker game was made it was in the bad/thriller era still, when michael was still very popular. You can see that the music in that game comes from the bad and thriller albums. Comeon guys, everyone likes the old michael jackson, he had good music, just admit it! ;D The game is fun too, even if you arent a michael jackson fan, and it has good music. I personally like michael jacksons videos and music, therefor i like the game. Does anyone know where you can get the kit for this game (circuit board, sideart, bezel, marquee, overlay??) that was my original intention of this thread, I just wanted a shock to say id sell my mame cab to buy moonwalker for 1500 dollars. IF anyone can tell me where to find the kit to this game, please tell me.
