I decided to make a 2 player CP for my cab, and now i've got 2 extra 8-way comp joysticks. Is it possible to add some sort of restrictor or is there some kind of switch to make this a 4-way?
-
no one? I could have sworn I read how to do this somewhere.

I don't believe its advertised as switchable and Oscar's review posted here:
http://www.oscarcontrols.com/joycompare/joyreview1_4.htm
seems to support that belief.
Assume it would take some sort of restrictor plate offered by someone else or created by yourself.

meh i'll just order a comp 4-way for $9

I am also interested in doing this. Does any have a method to creating a ristrictor plate?

I don't believe there's any such thing as a Happ Competition 4-way. At least its not in my Happ catalog. If Happ sticks are your brand of choice then You could use a Happ ultimate with the 4-way actuator (part#95-1307-00). You could get a Happ Super which has a two sided 4/8-way actuator that you flip over to change modes. Both of these sticks will sufice as a 4-way joystick but there are better choices out there if you're looking for a "dedicated" 4-way joystick ie.classic Wicos, original Midway Pacman sticks,Happ Pacman/Galaga reunion sticks as well as 8/4-way switchable sticks from Ultimarc and Groovy Game Gear. To my knowledge no one currently makes a 4-way actuator or restrictor plate for a Happ competition stick. The Comp stick was designed as a dedicated 8-way stick and though it certainly can be done through the use of a homade restrictor or actuator it probably isn't the best choice for converting into a 4-way when there are so many better choices out there.

the ultimate joystick 4-way is absolutely horrible for 4-way games
go with the ms pacman/galaga reunion 4 way
