Title: Grounding an Arcade Monitor

I am hooking up a Sharper Image arcade monitor (19") - Model SI-319s.  The unit does ot require an isolation transformer.

Regarding the a/c input, I have identified the hot leg and neutral, but there is no grounding wire directly connected.  Should I route my ground (from the 3 prong ac input plug to the monitor's metal frame?

Yes, always ground the monitor frame.

So even if my monitor uses a 3 prong plug, I should be running a ground wire to the monitor frame too? Like the drawing below?

I've never grounded the monitor frame, I thought the 3 prong plug did it for me. Have I been in danger of electrocution? I don't feel so smart all of a sudden.

The third pin in your cord is the ground.  Running an additional ground wire would be redundant. 

*Most* monitors don't use a three prong cord, so it's generally stated to ground the monitor frame.

If a cab is already wired with a ground strap for the monitor, and I install a monitor with a 3-prong cord, I usually hook up the ground strap too. A little bit of extra safety never hurts.   If you have a three prong monitor cord and no ground strap in the cab, I wouldn't bother installing one.

If the monitor is installed in a game cabinet there should already be a ground wire or ground strap in there. You should connect it to the frame.
