Title: apeekaboo's MAME cabinet
Post by: apeekaboo on December 27, 2004, 12:18:41 pm
Hi everybody!

I'd like to invite you to my site to have a look at my MAME cabinet (http://apeekaboo.dnsalias.com/arcade.php).
I have just finished installing lights for the marquee and have posted some new pictures of it.
There are still some things to be done, but I consider it to be approximately 90% complete.

Cheers

Very nice use of a poker cab. And very nice use of a TFT screen also. I hate when people use LCD screens to make cabs that are like 6 inches deep. It gets all out of proportion, it doesn't look like a real cab anymore.

The image looks very good. So good in fact I thought it was Photoshoped on the cab at first  :) . If these things didn't cost an arm and a leg here I

Thanks! :)

The cabinet measures about 52 x 155 x 63 cm (width, height, depth).
For Americans that would probably be something like 20 x 61 x 24 inches... ;)

No photoshop job on the pictures.
I ordered the art from http://www.classicarcadegrafix.com/

The most expensive part of this project was of course the TFT screen, which is around half the cost of this project.
I would probably have regret it if I would have come up with something smaller.
Sometimes you see BIG cabinets with huge control panels and just a tiny 15" or 17".
That really looks akward...

I think I have spent something simular to $USD 1300 on the cabinet so far.
This does not include the computer which I've built from spare parts.

I would very much like to add a spinner so I guess there will be some additional costs in the future...
