Need two of these with screws.
-
Is that something that a lot of people would buy?
If so, I might consider adding it to my inventory.
-
Not sure. I just need them as I only got two with an ipac from ebay.
-
Not sure if this will help, but:
In a fleeting second of smartness, I made some of my own with some spare pcb stand-offs and cable-tie mounts:
The standoffs have threads on both ends, so I drilled a hole through the mount, and screwed it together.
I didn't have any luck finding any at Radio Shack or online. I didn't really want to spend 10 bucks plus shipping for some from Ultimarc (I needed 10).
-
Where did you find the standoffs?
-
I picked them up at Radio Shack a while ago...for another project I didn't complete. :-\

Now that is *sharp*.
I know where to get the sticky-backed things, but where'd you get the threaded things?
Edit: I'm a stoopid-ass. Post right above this one!
Now where to find those anywhere but Rat Shack...
-
I bought like 40 of these a couple of months back. I'll go and check my boxes o' parts in a bit and see if I can't get you a few.
-
Looks like I still have 27 left. Send me a PM with your info and I'll get them out either tomorrow or the 26th.

i could use a few too.. :'(
right now, its just "sitting" in there.. lol..
No problem. Shoot me a PM with your info and I'll get some out.

If you could get standoffs for a decent price Peale, I think they'd sell pretty well. The small computer stores near me barely have any, and teh ones they have are about $7 for 4. I resorted to using the BIC pen trick for my last project that needed them. I'd order them from Andy, but I don't need anything else so shipping would destroy that idea.
I think they'd sell pretty well in general. I'd almost definitely buy a bunch anyway.
-
I don't recall what I paid in shipping from Centsible last time, but I think it wasn't too expensive.
They sell a pack of stand offs for $2.49
Centsible Ammusements (http://www.centsibleamusements.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=120)
I picked some up from them not too long ago along with some pinball stuff and I wanted to try their cheap leaf sticks. Total shipping for 2 joys 2 packs of stand offs, and some pinball stuff was under $10 so it shouldn't be too bad shipping wise.

{edit} I just did a mock order (didnt submit it) for 100 packs of stand offs and their shipping calculator quoted $11
-
Well I looked and looked, but couldn't find anything cheaper than the link above. Well...I could order them from Hong Kong, but...heh...
-
I think it was PaigeOliver who said to take a bic pen and cut it into little 1/4" pieces. Instant standoff.

1hookedspacecadet, SOAPboy: I've sent out the PCB feet and hopefully you will receive them sometime next week. Let me know when you get them. Thanks.

crazyhugo sells them on Ebay as well:

His shop is right next to where I work so I didn't have to pay the huge shipping charge. I think Centisible may come out cheaper.
-
$5.00 to ship those little feet? A dollar additional each? Someone's making a killing on shipping fees. That is...if he actually sells any.

SOAPboy: Were you sent one PCB foot, or one bag of four? It should have been the latter.
1hookedspacecadet: You should have had two bags of four.
It sounds almost as if they were opened up on purpose. Sorry that you didn't receive all your PCB feet, but if you still need any, just let me know and I'll try again with different packaging.

I've placed a decent size order of PCB mounting kits and once I recieve them I will be selling some kits. The kit will contain 4 mounting feet w/ screws and multi PCB entensions.
This picture is of one of the feet and included hardware. The kit will inlude 4 of each.
I'll be selling them for $2.25 for the set of 4 + plus shipping which will be in a padded mailer (shouldn't rip) and should be arround $1 in shipping (packaging + shipping). So it should be $3.25 for a set shipped. If the community can use them, I will get more.
I still need to make sure I can ship as economically as I predict, but the price should be very close to that mark.

If it was in a padded envelope, it's not supposed to go thru the machine at all!
I would suggest in the future taking such envelopes directly to the counter.
-
1hookedspacecadet: Glad to hear you're all set (and sorry again about you getting ripped for the second pack).
SOAPboy: PM sent.

Just an FYI for everyone... I was at Home Depot today and was looking around, and found some nylon spacers that work great in the hardware section. In my store, they were in those large pull out drawers. They had a ton of different sizes... I went with the 1/2" tall ones and just grabbed a few longer screws.
A pack of 2 was 35 cents... might be a slightly nicer alternative to the BIC pen trick. They aren't quite real feet, but they work pretty well.
P.S. - Goz, let me know when you get those packs set up, I'll prolly take a few.
-
If you don't have the feet, you can use spare motherboard standoffs. Just drill a shallow hole in the wood, and screw them in. I did this as a temporary fix till I could find some feet, but I left it because it worked pretty good. The pcb will be mounted pretty close to the wood, so it might be a pain if you need to plug cables in alot.
