IGN has a report up stating that the NBA has rejected an offer from Electronic Arts to form an exclusive video game relationship with the pro basketball league in the nature of EA's recent deal with the NFL. The economics are cited as the obvious reason here: "One of the reasons is that the NBA Live series simply doesn't have a stranglehold on the market the way Madden has for years, so by signing an exclusive deal with EA, the NBA would actually be losing money."

Yeah!!
Take that EA!!
Bet they'll nail the MLB license though. MVP outsold every other baseball game 5 to 1 in my store.

EA is in a publicity nightmare right now with an impending class action lawsuit against them propelled by accusations of inhumane work conditions for their employees... i guess many of these guys worked hundred plus hour, 7 day work weeks for years without ever seeing a single cent of overtime..
i dont blame the NBA for not
alligning themselves with them.

ehhhh i'm a salary employee and have worked plenty of ot without extra pay. that's just part of work. anyways i am all for competition and the less exclusivity, potentially the better options we have as consumers.

Go the NBA, fight the power! stick it to the man!
