Title: Something missing at liquor stores and 7-11's?????
Post by: fastredpacman on December 22, 2004, 02:15:31 am
Arcade games that's what. I remember playing games like outrun, double dragon, street fighter 2, final fight, etc at 7-11. And of course at the small mom and pop shops. Now nothing. Sad really I remember having a slurpee and playing street fighter 2. Memories......Ahhh  :(

7-11 and their ilk had to stop placing arcade machines in their stores becuase they attract violence and drug dealing etc.
store clerks were forced to spend more time baby sitting than running register, so thats where it ended.
i was however at the sub local mom and pop shop last nite here in town and was suprised to see a homeade cab (owned by a large vending co) with strikers 19xxII in it.. i played 4 quarters worth and by the time i was done my sub was cold.

Quite a few convenience stores have eliminated arcade & pinball games. Generally it was done because of drug/hangout/game break-in problems, but mainly today I think it's because of low revenue generation.

There's still a lot of pizza restaurants and movie theaters that have games though.  ;D

Around here they all replaced them with Keno setups.  Yeah, THOSE people are much better.

Where I live, there is an arcade in a movie complex with 10-15 games 5 mins from my house.  And 30 mins away there is a Sega Playdium with over 200 of the best games out there.  www.playdium.com

The crappy monitor on the raiden doesn't help i suppose...

You ever seen a game on location with bungs like that and think to yourself "geeze, I can fix that..."

I was at an xmas party a week ago.  There was a really beat machine there, desperately in need of a cap kit and simply wiping the grime off the monitor.

What I think when there is a game in a store somewhere.  Hey, I can play that at home.

hehe. i bet you get invited to a LOT of parties where things just happen to need fixing  ;)  if they say 'come to my party, oh and bring some tools' be wary  ;D

LOL...no, the party was at a hotel.

And I would have gladly done the work if the materials were provided.
