Title: How come high scores dont get saved in games like Galaga/Ms.Pac-Man?

When I restart the game the high scores won't be there?>

Not all games support saving High Score and some require http://www.mameworld.net/highscore/ in order to save the scores

MAME got a whole lot more fun when I worked out to save the high scores, it really does make all the difference.

I now find myself competing with a genuine high score and the games have become much more addictive.

Lol nah I'll just go with posting here, doesn't hurt anything or cost $$

anyway I didn't look TOO into it but can you import actual scores found from the internet? Are there things like actual competitions or does that not work cuz of hackings?

Also is there any reason to use one hiscore.dat over the other?
Like whats the difference between the unofficial and the official?

if games didnt save high scores when turned off, did high scores get reset like every day?

I certainly hope you are kidding.  It costs saint in the bandwidth charges, it hurts your credibility, and the costs you the help of veterans to the board, who only have a limited amount of patience in regards to asking "stupid" questions.  Consider that a strong hint. 

Also Peale was very polite, anyone else would have responded rtfm and been done with it.

I'm still using MAME .71 but I discovered that if you coin up after your high score and then exit, it will save.

For some reason if you end the game and exit without starting another game, it doesn't remember.
