Which of these are the best? I play primarily fighting games, although I do live with 4 other people so I'm making a 4 player CP.
Was thinking comp/ultimate for player 1 and 2 and using supers for 3-4.
Then I noticed supers are more expensive than comp normally, so maybe I'll just use supers for all 4?
Any help is appreciated!
-
Price shouldn't be an indication
Ultimates, for fighting games are basically junk really...
(Not too bad for some classic beat em ups I supposed)
Supers are great and feel nice but not so good with fighting games
Competitions are where it's at and there is no quality loss or anything compared to the Super
-
So if comps are best for fighting games than comps for 1 and 2 and supers for 3 and 4 would be okay?
There are not too many 4 player games out there, and the ones that are are more "beat'em up" types.
Why is one better than the other? This is my first CP i'm building and I don't have experience with any of them.
-
They'd be fine, they're both great, just not sure why you'd want to mix them?
The Super isn't like "better" for other games than the Competition is
-
Competition has my vote for fighters, but make all joys the same.
-
Super is a good all around stick.
Comp is better for fighters but is still pretty good all around.
Ultimates have a real cheap feel and lighter weight construction.
I would probably go for 4 Supers myself.
-
I just thought I would do 2 supers and 2 comps to save myself some money.
-
Comps are generally around $9 bucks
They're great stick, used in many many arcade games
there is no reason why they'd be any less "better" than the Super for games other than fighting
-
Hmm, the super description says it's the best all around, strongest built stick. But they only come in black??? Decisions decisions! ???
-
Yea they are on "sale" right now at Happ for $11 a stick. Guess I'll order 4 of them, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
-
You can order at other places for $9 (for the comp)
but don't ever go by company description... just go by opinions of people who have played with all of them.
My friend just got his arcade with supers and while extremely nice, are very difficult for some moves in fighting games, which aren't difficult on the competitions. I'd also order the heavy springs for the competitions just in case you later decide they're too loose. (Do a forum search for heavy spring or competition heavy spring)
But competitions are definately the best for fighting games out of the two, but I see no reason why they'd be "Worse" than the supers for all other games... so in a way IT is the best all around

The Comp has a very square feel and very exact diagonals. Most 4 way games don't feel so hot on it.
The Super has a rounder feel. You can play a 4-way game in it without too much "dead corner" trouble.
Funny thing, most fighter fans I know swear by the optical P360,
-
I played Pacman last night with my comp stick and it was exactly the same as playing with the MsPac/Galag stick except for the corners not being restricted. I had no problems at all playing, haven't tried it on Donkey Kong yet which is the real test but I was pretty surprised at the smooth cornering from the comp.
-
Well, to each his own. :)
Pac-Man on a Comp - made me wanna die.
Pac-Man on a P360 - not so bad.
Pac-Man on a 4-way - Mmmm.

Can you give me a website where I can get them for $9?
-
ebay or therealbobroberts.com (crappy ordering process tho)
can't think of any others right now
-
I have used almost every stick commonly available in the US.
I pull competition and ultimate joysticks from machines almost immediately. I don't want those cheapo garbage sticks anywhere near my games.
Supers are usuable..
p360s are more than usable.
-
Yeah but what games do you mostly play paige?
Competitions are just as good as supers if not better, especially with fighting games.......... maybe not as good as supers for SOME games... so I'd put them as equals at least
