For me I think the BEST "Arcade" game is Star Wars Trilogy arcade game in full stereo cabinet setup
-
Trilogy gets old. I can beat it on one credit every time now, half the time I don't even take any damage (unless the game decides I get to take a hit during the vader tie fighter confrontation).
I would want a 51" "Pump it Up". I don't really care which version.
-
A full blown D.A.R.T. system.
It's a bowhunting simulator that you use your real bow to shoot into a kevlar backdrop, that shows video, and tracks the hits based on the time/location that your arrow hits the backdrop.
-
L.A. Machine Guns
Or Terminator 2, but I'd just need to hack the T2 guns I have in the garage
-
A cool game I played recently was Ninja Assault, a 2-player light-gun-type shooter.
There's just something magical about ninjas with guns.
-
Galaxian 3...
...but it's bigger than my apartment.
-
holo-girl 5000 ... opps, hasnt been invented yet. : )
for real tho ...i missed an oppertunity to grab a "Ninja Gun". An old electromechanical gun game. If anyone knows where one is... please let me know. thx.

8 player Daytona?
Pump It Up seconded (I always meant to build one and run Stepmania in the cab. Maybe one day, eh?)
-
for me it would be metal slug 4. astrocity style with the stool and all! oh yeah!
-

Why can't you have that? That is a very acheivable goal.
-

Well I have personally achieved metal slug 5. astrocity style with the stool and all! oh yeah!
okay, I tell a lie, I dont have the stool (honestly, I don't, but the rest is there!) :)
As for wants, full support of Tekken Tag. Would save me the swapping my harness from the JPAC to my TTT PCB...... with any luck that day will come soon.
-
Yeah, I don't see why that would be so out there. I have a Candy Neo Geo, all I would need is the Metal Slug 4 cart.
Those candy cabs are light, compact, and aren;t THAT expensive. They are good buys actually. As they tend to be newer and in MUCH better condition than US cabs with the same size screens.

I like "Police 911". That game has motion sensors which can detect when you are crouching, ducking, or dodging. It takes up way too much space to ever have in my game room.
The same goes for DDRxxx.
-
Star Wars cockpit with 27" screen.
-
As I alway reply to these threads, I would want a full 8 pod Tesla II or Tesla III system! A Tesla 4 would also be acceptable, but I think I like all the buttons and digitla led readouts in the older pods. The Tesla 4's have several multi function isplays instead.
Even though I was a big fan of the Amiga, I don't want the original Amiga based pods.
This is actaully an attainable goal, but it would require a lottery jackpot or long lost rich uncle at this point.
I think they would all fit in my basement, but then my wife would get half of them in the divorce that would follow if I did it with out the jackpot or uncle. ;D

Showcase version of House Of The Dead II. Love that game.
I'm stuck with a MAME cab because it's all I can afford and have space for.
-

yeah, linked daytona would be cool. did it go up to 8 players? wow!
something else i thing would be cool would be prop cycle. and not that impossible i suppose. would be great becaue i just bought a little gym set. what a great way to warm up (",)
-
Wow, I would also really like a Prop Cycle.
-
I really want Satan's Hollow. Wife won't go for it due to the satanic theme. I told her the goal is to defeat the evil dude, but she says no. She lets me keep 10+ other games, so I let her win this battle.
I can also never have a playboy pinball.

Mmm, control issues...
-
A Juno First machine!
It's unattainable because the machines are RARE! I found a converted cab, but the nut selling it is asking way too much for it, and shipping would add too much too. Then finding a board is equally difficult.

-
Two words: Turrett Tower!
-
I want a skee ball lane....
13 feet long takes up quite a bit of space!
-
I'd like a DDR set up but that's nopt happening. Something attainable when I have the space I guess would be a professional shuffleboard table...

Man, I would kick her --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- out the door! No woman going to tell me I can't have a game...or playboy!! LOL
Mine would probably be an original, in super mint condition Donkey Kong. Yeah, I know DK is easy to find but a mint condition one with everything working and no burn in is a little expenisve (well, considering I am poor...lol)

Holographic Time Traveler is the ultimate game for me. I know it is insanely hard, but it's one of the coolest games ever
-
The full blown Golf simulator.
The one that cost 40 grand
-
Well, there are too many to choose from. I always wanted a huge basement so I could have a room full of arcade games and a pool table. We moved to Florida, land of no basements, so there went that idea lol.
One game I would like to have is Demolition Derby. Sure, it's repetitive, but very addictive. Having one of the original 4 player machines with the steering wheels would be great. I have not seen one of these in years.
-
Hard Drivin
or
Daytona
-
This is easy: Marble Man!
The arcade version of the great white whale!

A dedicated Gyruss machine. Sounds attainable, but they never made it to Australia (we only got kits) and the shipping is prohibitive.
-
An R360 would be pretty cool :)
I would probably most like the moving sit-down OutRun...
Of course I don't have room for either :(
-
Oh yeah, and Spyhunter would be nice. I remember playing that one a lot!!! ;D
-
The Lobster Zone
-
I'd love to have a Magic Sword, but I live in an apartment w/ a wife and two kids. no room. :'(
-
I want "The Last Starfighter". ;D
-
I have always wanted the Hercules pinball game. It is freakin humongous, if you havent seen it, youve missed out. The ball inside is like a bowling ball(yes im exaggerating) but it is one awesome pinball machine.
-
Michael Jackson's moonwalker, although i dont think any exist anymore. Atleast I have it in mame I guess.
-
720 in mint condition and a disc of tron enviromental cab. There are moonwalker cabs still around saw one for sale last year.
-
I would have to say Star Wars Pod Racer, but if course one would have to have 2 of them to make it fun. :)
-

I know a warehouse that has two of them in it. No description can prepare you for how large they really are.
Just like photographs can't prepare you for how small candy cabs are.

How much was it do you recall? How much are older (around 1990) upright cabinets roughly at auctions? Are they very expensive, NBA Jam or Moonwalker for example, how much roughly do these kind of cabs normally cost at auctions?
-
if i was to buy an astrocity cabinat with metal slug 5 with stool and all, well lets just say that it would take me a while to get it. I live in Australia so you can imagine how much it would cost.................. mmmmmmmm ghost squad.....
-
I can think of a few I want but don't have *yet*. :D
But can't have?
A maintanence free electro-mechanical pin. ;)
-
Steel Talons.
-
Hands down, the Namco O.R.B.S. (Over Reality Booster System). It was (and still is) a prototype brought to several tradeshows 2-3 years back.

no doubt, golden tee, a current version.
-
ahh, i forgot all about the orbs! good call..
shame it only plays rail shooters.
-
My first choices would be a pinball machine. And why I can't get them is my wife allowing me to put that much cash on a game.
Games that are in my reach... be worth more then using a mame machine?
Good shooting game. But most will get old I would guess... But still fun.

they have one of those in an arcade near me, its so cool. but its really boring if youre good cause the old style playfields are so boring without cool ramps and stuff. i played 1 ball for like almost 10 min one time, and this one gives you 5 balls for 50c.
I would want.. an Initial D ver 3 machine, and IIDX machine, and a PopN Music machine =)
-
Any driving cab machine, I just don't have the room for it.
-
Stunt Cycle ...... loved that as a kid.
I believe paigeoliver has this arcade game in his playroom. I understand it is not emulated since it is all coded by circuitry (?) and does not have any Roms. Although, I bet since someone could emulate Pong (which I think pagieoliver has as well), then someone could spend some time and emulate this great game and put it in the "NoName Mame" distributable.
-
Yes, I have a Stunt Cycle. Stunt Cycle has a ROM I believe, but it has no CPU. The 1975-78 era saw quite a few games that did use roms, but did not use CPUs. These games are very difficult to emulate because you have to build the ENTIRE BOARD in software, and it all has to be correct. You have to emulate each circuit, each component, EVERYTHING.
Microprocessor games are cake to emulate, because the processor is running a program, one command after the next. A non microprocessor game has no commands at all.
Of course it is certainly possible to emulate these games, it is just more difficult, and made doubly so by the fact that few coders have much practice at such a project.
A good programmer with access to a machine and the rom data should be able to make a very good clone without too much trouble.
Now, next issue. Candy Cabs in Australia. They are much cheaper in Au. You are so much closer to the source. Some Au game companies in import the suckers just for the monitors and then throw the cabs away.
Ok, yes I have Stunt Cycle, and I have 2 different Pongs. Want to make a deal? North American van lines can ship 2 games for around $300 total.
-
does anyoine remember a game in arcades where you shot ghosts? I KNOW it was behind a plexi/glass screen but I Honest to god couldn't tell if it was a video game or some kind of other contraption
-
SubZero,
I think you might be referring to Haunted House by Midway - 1972 (http://marvin3m.com/arcade/haunted.htm)
There is a collectibel toy store/museum in Elmhurst, IL that has one, but it is not for sale.
-
Indoor Golf Simulator
Any 2/4 car linked driving game - Daytona/Virtua Racing/Indy 500
Elvis Pinball :P
-
I have the ROM images for Stunt Cycle. I forgot where I tracked them down. I believe they are more for keeping score in the game than anything else, if I recall correctly.
-
DUAL VIRTUA ON ;D
Hell yes! I kick ass at that game. :) I would love to have one!!
-
paigeoliver: I do not think I could place another arcade game in my home while remaining married

Nope it's gotta be something else
it's so strange I've never seen it again
-
Ok then, How about this one?
Coney Island, 1976 Chicago Coin Acade Company (http://marvin3m.com/arcade/coney.htm)
Or this one?
Laser Ghost - 1989 Sega (http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=8382)
Or possibly one of these?
Ghost Hunter - 1994 LAI (http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=7935)
Miner's Revenge, 1996 LAI (http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=8701)
A little more decription might help.

Most of those didn't have pics so I honestly couldn't tell
