Title: Power Relay - need recommendation
Post by: daeven on December 19, 2004, 06:17:26 pm
Can someone recommend a relay I can use to power on a monitor?  I'd like to use the portio command in Advancecab to power on my monitor after the VGA card's frequency has been changed to 15 KHz.  So this relay needs to be able to switch on/off 110V AC based on a 1-5V DC signal.  I've hooked up relays in other applications, but I've never had to locate one myself, and there are SO many to choose from.

I just thought I'd point this out in case you didn't know...

If you happen to be using a J-PAC board to interface your computer to your cabinet, the signal divider will protect your arcade monitor until the signal switches to 15KHz.

If you're not, then you need some sort of relay.  Mame on.

No Jpac.

I found what looks like the perfect relay:

For $12+shipping, it can handle up to 10A 110VAC load (serious overkill there), and uses a 3+ VDC signal line.  Plus, it uses quick connects and can be screwed to the metal monitor frame.

I've ordered one to try it out.
