Title: Hiding Windows and starting MameWah from first boot.... how?
Post by: LeedsFan on December 19, 2004, 11:14:08 am
I've done a search on this and I managed to get MameWah to start on boot by placing a shortcut in the Windows startup folder.    But that's still not good enough I'm afraid....  ;)    That option still shows my Windows desktop and plays that Windows tune before starting MameWah.   I've already managed to change my boot screen to a Mame logo and swapped the blue loading screen for a blackk one.... so I'm nearly there.

Someone did mention a "shell startup".  I'm a bit of a nOOb (but learning fast) so I'm afraid I would need this spelling out to me in plain English.  And can I get rid of that Windows tune?

Once in MameWah I still want to be able to exit to Windows desktop if necessary for tweaking. I just want Windows hidden from first bootup completely.

Well that link doesn't work for me, but basically there is loads of information on this exact topic on the forum - use the search function and you will find info on hiding windows, changing the boot up screen to anything of your choice, and running a frontend instead of the windows desktop.
