Title: Arkanoid Flipping P2 Screen?

went into Dip switches, turned OFF flip screen, and it is playing upright on P1, but when it's P2's turn, it flips upside down (even tho the dip switch is off)- and yes, flip screen in Mame is turned off as well.  This is the Arkanoid US version.  I noticed that the tournament version doesn't do this, but I want to play the original version. Any ideas?

It's in Cocktail mode.

For some reason your setting is cocktail. You can just go into the .cfg subdirectory and delete the .cfg file for Araknoid and restart.

I am trying to put ARkanoid and Galaga into cocktail mode. Where do I set that.  I dont see any dip switchs for it and didnt see any config in mame for it.  I must be missing something.

I don't know about in MAME, but I thought the only difference in regular arkanoid, and tournament, was that tournament flipped for player 2 and regular arkanoid didn't.  Otherwise I thought they were the same.  Except maybe for any bootleg boards.

Hey guys-
ok- it's been a while, but I'm getting the same problem. Arkanoid (US version) is flpping player 2 screen. The dip switch is 'off' for the screen flip setting- and it's set to 'none' in Mame32, so it shouldn't be doing this. As suggested, I deleted out all the araknoid cfg files- but that didn't work either. Any suggestions here?

"Flip screen" dipswitches usually are for the monitor mounted upside down, not cocktail-type flipping.

And going through the source, some versions of Arkanoid have a upright/cocktail dipswitch, while all have a flip screen dip.  So, it looks like the flip dip you're messing with isn't for cocktail-type flipping.

These sets do NOT have the cocktail dip:
arkanoid, arknoidu, arknoiuo, and arkatour

These do:
arknoidj, arkmcubl, ark1ball, arkangc, arkangc2, arkblock, arkbloc2, arkgcbl, paddle2, arkatayt, and arktayt2


So looks like you'll have to use a different romset than the parent set, and is from the second list above.  :-\ [shrug]
