BrenR, Poonga, and others have already been through this with me in #BYOAC ... :-/
I need help figuring out a song.. I'm going to use it in a frontend I'm building..
It's been used in MANY movie previews.. It's an orchestral song with opera singers.. VERY intense, usually at the end of a movie preview, accompanied by explosions or quick flashes of movie scenes..
(KIND Of like Oh Fortuna, but it's not).
Musical Note Sequence:
(Straight Eight Notes (play staccato for effect).
B A B G A F# G E
B A B G A F# G E
B A B G A F# G E
D# D# D# D# F# F# F# F#
This is driving me NUTS!
I know this is OT.. but it's for my arcade machine... so.. it's kind of not :)
HELP ME!!!
>:(

"Pompeii" by E. S. Posthumus?
-
While we're playing "name that tune"...
What's the name of the song (assuming it's a traditional or classic song) that's played in any of the bugs bunny "factory scenes" (kinda vague I know... )
uhm.. yeah... carry on.

The Merry Go-round Broke Down? ;D
Oh by the way, I'm working on downloading some ES Posthumus but that MIGHT be it!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
-
I just dl'ed pompeii... and of course I have no idea if it's the one nipsmg wanted.. but what was that other dirgy opera song that sounded like it was in russian (even though it probalby was)... that was kinda dirgey that's always used in movies/trailers... it's sometimes used in hellish/devil/accultish type/themed movies...
it's less modern than pompeii.
*shrug* well this should get -->moved to everything else any moment now ;D

I know exactly what your talking about. The Composer is either
Prokofiev or Vivaldi I dont know the name of the song.
I recommend Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet" very emotional dark piece.

do you know how to read music notes ??
you only give me the tone, but no duration....
you'll always need both to make the music sounds right...
(sorry.... at work now... will try it tonight at home with my piano and see if I know what music you're talking about...)
and if I do, I'll give you a hand.....
;) ;D ;) ;D
-
hiyu: I did say 8th notes, staccato
Play in 4/4
:)
-
ok.. I see.... I'll try it tonight.... ;)
(I did see you stated play it in 4/4... but usually...
each note don't have same duration.... that's why I asked... anyway... I'll see what I can figure out...)
since its Fri.... I might not have a chance to post a reply until Mon.... (I do need to finish some daily stuffs, house works, and spend some time with my girl friend....)
so... I'll post latest on Mon.... ;)

instead of waiting to go home...
I downloaded a virtual piano to try it out... heee hee...
internet is good...
sorry.... I couldn't figure out what that song is....
do you have a clip of it somewhere ?? (midi file ?? or mpg ??
or mp3 ??.. or whatever ....)
(then I can give you the notes and their duration...)
I'll keep trying....

Yeha, I asked in chat, how he figured out the notes. He said he used his piano. Now, you have to have a reference, what's that reference?
-
its just I don't recognize that tune that he posted....
if I can hear the original, then I can figure out what it is....
(well.... most times, I can...)
but I guess if he has the original, he won't need to re-do it himself....
anyway... I'll check out some movie previews and see if I can find out what he's looking for....
-
I STILL haven't found it.. but I've gotten some good suggestions...
I COULD use Oh Fortuna.... but that's not what I was looking for.
E.S. Posthumus - Pompeii is awesome, and there's other songs by them that are amazing, and I'll definitely look into.. but none of them are it (it's older)..
Someone Suggested prokofiev, but I've found TONS of prokofiev stuff, and have no idea where to start with it.
If someone figures this out for me, you'll be my hero.. ;D

you still need to answer, How do you know these notes? You say you figured them out. Well, you need the piece of music to hear it? or just a really good memory?
-
I've tried to watch those movie previews... so far.. nothing similar comes up... anyone has that original music in any form ?? if I can hear it, then I can see what's wrong...
cos sometimes, there's nothing wrong with the tune itself, it might just has the wrong key... or a couple of notes has the wrong tempo... and it somehow ruined the whole piece....
so... if I can hear what/how its supposed to be... then I can tell you what's wrong....

Poonga:
I just have a good memory, and a musical ear, that's how I figured out the notes :)
-
man.. people with perfect pitch or near perfect pitch are lucky... imagine being a guitarist/bass player who was atonal and rythemically backwards... *Shrug* good thing I played in grunge bands =)

as suggested above romeo and juliet would be good, taaa taa ta taa ta taa ta taaa..hehe
But his music for Eisenstein's film Alaxander Nevski would be in my opinion be even better...get the suite op.78 especially the opening and the 5 scene the battle con the ice...

I love "Romeo and Juliet" Balcony scene by prokofiev it was a very popular tune for the C64 used in a game called Sanxion. Composed by Rub Hubbard for the C64, that is how I originaly heard it.
