Post by: Will on December 16, 2004, 02:56:50 pm
Been having some stability issues with my wg k7000 monitor.I'm using a arcade vga and have everything up and running.I wanted to make sure everything was stable so i decided to run a few games and after about thirty minutes I lose the picture and it looks like when you turn on monitor with no video source attached.Looks sort of like flashing black/white screen. If i hit "esc"

Yeah, it's probably not the monitor.

You might try and add a better ground cable from the monitor to the wall.  You may be building some fields up on the chasis that's getting back to the card in the ground. Try making sure you are well grounded all the way through the isolation transformer.

Oddball reason: If it is the monitor, it could be the video signals are too strong, too much input voltage from that card.  One of the 3 IC's on that board may not like that.

In the manual for the k7000 it shows a 50-60hz pot and says this should be set by the factory and left alone.Could this control have anything to do with this problem?

I think you are talking about the B+.  That's from the power supply, and No, you don't need to mess with that.

Try grounding it first.  Put a ground on the metal frame then run it down to the iso, then out on the power cord to the wall.

Can you hook up a PC monitor to that card and see if it's the card?

It could be some sort of powersaving feature automatically turning your monitor off after 30 minutes.  Disable this in Windows and see if it does the trick.

Thanks for the tip Todd, your the second person to mention this.Ill test this tonight but it sounds like a viable reason why this is happening.

Kind of embarrassing but it seems it was the dreaded screen saver killing my video. For some off reason the arcade vga will not display the screen saver.Ran it for over a hour tonight with no issues.Glad this was an easy fix for once ;D
