Title: Anyone watching the SpikeTV VG Awards?
Post by: JoyMonkey on December 14, 2004, 09:52:46 pm
This is possibly the greatest load of crap I've seen on TV in years; and I've seen my fair share!
You can tell that absolutely everyone presenting it would rather be anywhere else. It's only stay-tuned factor is 'how much worse can it get'.
The guy that read out the winner of best driving game (sorry, The Pontiac GT SpikeTV Best Driving Game of 2005) didn't even read the name of the game. Whuh?
What genius decided to televise a video game award ceremony?  ???

Yeah, I flipped it on at that point, he just kind of help up the game for the camera to see...  I think it was Burnout 3 that won.  What a boring show, lol.  I watched for about 5 minutes.

I saw that it was going to be on... and made a conscious decision to pass on it....

I sat through part of the last G4techtv awards show in hopes of seein some hl2 footage or some lame crap like that...  and it was such a train wreck...

as much as video games are now a huge entertainment busines now...  I don't think watching the guys who ray traced a building in GTA Vice City accept an award hardly merits as entertainment (or what have you... )

sure these people deserve awards... but it just can't support an awards show that will hold my interest... even when they dress up anna nicole as laura croft...

It wsn't that they bombed Dr. Feelgood, but whoever was in charge of the audio/vocals was drunk or something they kept missing their cue. Or they were just having audio problems.

They played much better on Jimmy Kimmel.  I TIVOed the whole show  just to see Crue play. I was getting tired of Snoop Dogg singing every 10 minutes of the show and Funkmaster Flash was a horrible MC. They should never get Roy Jones Jr. to announce an award. He can't even friggin read! LOL

Ditto.

If even the hard core gamers like the people who visit this site weren't interested, exactly who does watch crap like this?

Tried to watch it.  First ten minutes was a who's who rap video.  Mostly a bunch of self promotion for the celebs and very little video game info.  I gave up when the man behind the wheel of Pontiac's new GTO couldn't figure out how to do a decent  burn-out when bringing out the envelope for the Best Driving Game award. ???
