Title: Mamewah and ArcadeVGA Vertical Hold
Post by: nussmier on December 14, 2004, 10:12:59 am
Hi!

I have just set up a 25" samsung monitor(cant remember model) on windows XP using maewah as my front end and ArcadeVGA.  Everything went really well.  I was able to load windows and do whatever.  As soon as I tried to run mamewah the vertical hold was off.  I adjusted it to stop it from rolling.  When I started a mame game the vertical hold was off again.  Basically I cant get the vertical hold to stop rolling.  If I fix it within a game it rolls in mamewah or if I fix it in mamewah it rolls in a game.  Do I need to more finely adjust the vertical hold or do I need the resolution software from mamewah or Ultimarc?  What is the difference between the ultimarc resolution tool and the mamewah resolution tool.  Thanks in advance for any help...

You need to fine-tune the v-hold in *every* mode you use.  Note this could mean spending a long time making *very* minute adjustments.  If your monitor is old it might not be possible to find the sweet spot without cleaning (or replacing) the v-hold pot.

The difference between the progs you mention is basically that mine is more 'visual', and offers  greater user-fine-tuning possibilities.  If that makes any difference to you!
