Hi all. Unfortunately the Shift key appears not to be working on my I-PAC. After I performed the following procedure (from Ultimarc site)...
"Run any text-display program such as Notepad, or if you are in DOS type "COPY CON" to turn off the command prompt. With a keyboard plugged into the pass-through port, press CTRL-ALT-P (press and hold each key in this order). You will go into programming mode. If the MAME/ALT jumper is set to MAME you will go right into test mode. If not, you will see a menu. Enter "T" for test mode. The offending stuck input(s) will be displayed on the screen."
I found the offending switch. The debug program came back and said..
1 sw 8 = v
Nothing is connected to P1 sw 8. Also, in Winpac, the 8 button is lit like it is being pressed. Anyone know what the v stands for? Could this indicate a problem with the board itself? If so, anything I can do to fix it or am I s.o.l?
Thanks for you help..

1 sw 8 = v means that the 8th button for player 1 is mapped to the 'v' character. If you use Ctrl-Alt-P to show the current config, the shifted config shows as the 2nd element after the '='. Here's my config: hope this helps
*** i-pac interactive programming and test mode ***
t for button test mode
l to list current config
r to reset eeprom to mame defaults
e to save and exit
a to abort
or press switch you want to program
2 up = r
2 right = g
2 sw 1 = a
2 left = d
2 sw 3 = q
2 down = f
2 sw 5 =
2 sw 2 = s
1 right = rght entr
2 sw 4 =
1 left = left tab
start 1 = 1 1 * shift *
1 up = up pgup
1 down = down pgdn
1 sw 1 = lctl 5
coin 2 = 6
1 sw 2 = lalt 6
coin 1 = 5
1 sw 3 = spce p
start 2 = 2 esc
1 sw 4 =
1 sw 8 =
1 sw 5 =
2 sw 7 =
1 sw 6 =
2 sw 8 =
1 sw 7 =
2 sw 6 =
done
press next switch or e to exit

Somehow P1sw8 is showing grounded. Look for wires connected to it (accidentally) . Also, this switch is common with the LED lights, so check the LED wiring or header.
If you can't figure it out, E-mail Andy at Ultimarc and I'm sure he will make it right.

Hmmm, thanks for the reply guys...
currygoat11: Your display looks a little different than mine. I do not have the option to reset the EPROM. Maybe that would do the trick. I'll try downloading the latest version of Winpac...
Tiger-Heli: I checked and absolutely nothing is toughing the P1sw8. This leads me to believe a short somewhere. I think I'll e-mail Andy. Maybe he will have a suggestion.
Thanks for the help so far guys...
