Finally got my cab up and running. I just converted an existing cab with J-Pac and ArcadeVGA and added extra buttons for each player. Also installed a TB and spinner. I'm also using MameWah as front end, but I'm having teething troubles as follows.....

The computer being unstable might have to do something with overheating. If it is in a very enclosed space, try opening up the cab or pointing a fan into the computer, see if this fixes the problem. It also seems that you might not have everything wired properly. I know I had some problems like that where everything went haywire. Check your grounds connections, and make sure you got your quick connects on the right places on the microswitches. You might have one on the Normally On tab.
Hope this helps, Fred.

Yes the haywire issues suggest that something could be incorrectly wired or is shorting out somewhere......
Unplug your various controls, add just 1 controller and see if things are better. If so, add one item at a time to try and see where the problem may lie....

The only thing I've changed is to add the ArcadeVGA.
This sounds like the problem. windoze always has problems with odd graphics cards and third party drivers. (I really hate windoze.)
Try doing a system restore before you installed the card, then let it recognize it on its own. Let it install a generic driver if it can.
Try the controls without the card/drivers. This will help narrow down the problem.

Also, if you installed the arcadeVGA on top of your old drivers, you need to make sure you removed those. ESPECIALLY if it was an ATI card before that. I believe there is a program from ATI that removes old drivers. After that, you need to reboot your computer, disable the device, remove it, install the arcadevga onto the mb, then install the drivers.
