Possible dumb question alert:

Does that square white-plastic piece at the bottom of the stick mean that these are 4-ways?

No they are 8 ways, I just purchased the blue one along with a p360 adaptor! WHOO! Christmas present for me! Now if I could only find another pair...

What is that white 'box' on the bottom of the stick?  (the only joysticks I have are 8-way wico leafs)
Thanks

The white square piece is called an Actuator.  It is what hits the microswitches when the joystick is moved.

Hiub1:  I wasn't aware that the P360 adapter fit the microswitched Wico's  I thought it only fit on the Leaf Switch version?  Or did you just order a new hub from Happ?

re: box
The "box" is the actuator used on Wico microswitch joys; it is used in place of the cylindrical one on the leaf joys.

re: p360
The p360 adapters made for Wico joys will fit leaf or switch versions, as the upper part of the base that the adapter attaches to is the same.  The lower part of the original base holds the switches, be they leaf or micro, and is discarded after converting to p360.

Yeah, I am stoked to get these things. I just keep reading great things about them, and I am dying for a stick with a shorter throw that is a bit stiffer, and more precise than my current competitions. Also, I am about to build a new CP for the cab, so this should work out nicely!

Those are my favorite sticks. I replaced both of my Happ Comps. with these.Paige Oliver swears by these sticks as well. He calls them Wico "microleaf" sticks which I think is the perfect name for them. They feel like a Wico leafswitch joy because of the rubber grommet but they have the reliability and low maintenance due to the use of microswitches. I scored 4 of these with black balltops and still in the boxes a while back and I love em. I never thought I'd say it but I like them even more then their leafswitch counterparts. I only wish they offered them in true 4-way versions but there's no such thing so I stuck with an old reliable gray base Wico for the 4-way games.(Wico 4-way will soon be replaced with a rebuilt original Midway 4-way leafswitch Pac-Man stick which is my alltime favorite 4-way stick) Just be carefull when trolling for this particular type of Wico stick on Ebay because Wico also made these microswitch balltops with a spring for tension instead of a grommet and they don't feel anything like the grommet based sticks. Its usually hard to tell from pictures on Ebay. I know this because I got stuck with a couple of these. A quick glance and they look just like any classic wico because they kept the original base but you have to take a peek in between the joystick base and the microswitch mounting plate and if its one of the lousy spring based versions then you'll see it by looking in there. Best thing to do is ask the seller to take a look before buying.

Kremmit,
Are you sure the base is discarded when installing the P360 conversion?
The instruction sheet seems to indicate that the adapter snaps into the base using the clips that hold the leafswitches.

:-X OOPS!  You're right.  I just got some 360 adapters, but have not installed them yet.  I thought the bottom section was unscrewed and replaced with the 360 assembly; but I just checked my instructions and they match yours.  That's what I get for posting without looking closer first.

I guess this also means these P360 adapters will not fit Wico microswitch sticks, only the leaf models.  Also will not fit the "Wico Style" chinese Wico immitation sticks with the screw-on leaf switches.

Yeah, thats what I thought.  You can still convert your microswitch Wico's to P360's for cheap if you just order a P360 hub and Actuator from Happ.

Part #
95-2471-00  Hub    $11.50
50-0318-00  Actuator $.30

It is about the same price as the adapters for the LeafSwitch Joysticks.

Well I just went ahead and picked up 2 leaf Wico 8-ways to be on the safe side, so I will be OK! I can't wait to try these things out. Is there any difficulty to mounting them on MDF? It looks like I might need to rout them a little bit.

Thanks for all the info guys, Fred.
