Title: Jamma with D9200 or similar?
Post by: LsLSpamMatt on December 09, 2004, 03:53:49 pm
Hey everyone,

Got another question for you about my cabinet.
I have this genius idea to replace the "sketchy" Hantarex monitor in my Jamma cabinet with a WG D9200 or the other high dollar monitor reviewed recently on retroblast.  The question is:
"Can I replace a standard resolution monitor in a Jamma cab with a high dollar multipurpose monitor easily?"

I guess in a perfect world, I would build one cab that could play original Jamma boards, and have a MAME pc in it.

Can it be done?

Thanks,

matt

The D9200 and Betson 27" are simple drop in replacements, but only if your cab has monitor mount spacing of 20.6".  Both monitors have at least a 5 pin header for standard jamma games, and a 15pin vga connector for PC/Highres type connection.  So as long as it physically fits in your cab you are fine.

If you have a 25" Hanatrex (like whats in my NBA jam cab) you will find the monitor mount spacing is too small.   You could drill new holes in the mounts, and it might just be able to squezee in, but then I don't know what you'd do about the bezel.

Dave,

that's great news.  So I can have a Do-It-All system? *TM*
Now it's just the problem of saving an ADDITIOINAL $500 for the monitor.  Ack.

Well you could save $100 and get the Betson 27" for $399.  But its still a lot of money (especially if you have to have it shipped).

Dave,

Money is no object when it comes to completely convincing my friends and family that I am the biggest dork they know.
