Title: Wiring Mouse Buttons to Opti-Pac
Post by: Jabba on December 08, 2004, 01:07:24 pm
I am trying to wire the L and R buttons from the Opti Pac to P1 buttons 4 and 5 on my control panel. I am a little confused on the ground wire from the opti-pac.

I'll use P1 4 button in my example. I want it to act as the Mouse Left Click and the P1 5 button to be Mouse Right Click

When I set up the wiring, I ran two wires from P1 buttons 4. One wire to P1 button 4 on the I-PAC and a splice to Opti-Pac Left connection.

I hooked the ground for P1 button 1 to the I-PAC ground connection, and then ran a wire from the Opti-Pac Ground to the I-PAC ground for Player 1.

Now, only mouse buttons work and not P1 4 button.

Do I need to also splice the ground from P4 button to both the I-PAC and Opti-Pac?

Also, what would I need to do to wire P1 button 1 instead of P1 button 4?

As you can see, electronics is not my *bright* spot. Hope my question above makes sense....

Thanks in advance...

Well I don't have either an Opti-Pac or I-Pac so I can't add much to the logistics of your set up.  With that being said, is there any reason why you need to have the buttons wired to both boards?  Why not do away with the I-pac connections for the two buttons all together,  just configure mame so that L mouse is button 4 and R mouse is button 5.  Maybe I am missing something.
